I've seen the Vikings thread and Wyoming Cowboys thread so I decided the Hokies decided to get some recognition. Lets talk about the Hokies in this thread.

I saw where the first day in full pads went real well. Vick got off to a shaky start in skeleton hitting only 3 of his first seven patches. Then Cory Holt and the other kid took the next dozen or so snaps and were a combined 7-9 passing. Vick came back in and went 4-4 the rest of the way.
They did a lot of work on special teams which is always one of Beamer's strength and has played a huge part in Va. Tech getting to the point they are now.
I rcan emember back in the 80's, we used to see Va. Tech on the schedule and chalk that one up as a sure win. That's no longer the case! I'm glad we don't play them this year, our schedule is tough enough already. But I'm still glad the Hokies are in the ACC and I think they are a perfect fit. I'm really looking forward to that Sunday night opener with State. That was a great game last year up in Blacksburg and this year's matchup should also be a very interesting opener for both teams.

I'm excited about Tech this year and hopefully I'll get to go to a Virginia Tech game this year. My cousin is a senior defensive tackle on the team and I hope to go see him play. Tech's defense should be solid this year with Noland Burchette and Darryl Tapp on the ends and Carlton Powell and Jonathan Lewis (my cousin) on the ends. The linebacker core is young but by the time they are seniors could be the best in the nation, they have Vince Hall, Xavier Adibi, and James Anderson (a senior) as LB. All-American Jimmy Williams headlines the Hokies defensive backfield and he hopes to lead them to another ACC title. Any questions about the Hokies? Relay them to me and I'll see if my cousin will answer them.

Virginia Tech Coach Frank Beamer is close to signing a seven-year contract that could pay him $2 million per season, sources close to the situation said yesterday. Beamer's current contract expires Jan. 1, and Virginia Tech officials and his agent, Jimmy Sexton, are working on a deal that will make him one of college football's highest-paid coaches. Sexton said yesterday that he "hoped to have something done before the start of the season." The Hokies, the defending ACC champions and ranked No. 8 in the preseason Associated Press poll, will open the season Sept. 4 at North Carolina State.

The SEASON IS HERE! Saturday the Hokies go against NC State to open the season. NC State has two of the best defensive ends in the nation with the combo of Mario Williams and Manny Lawson. But, Tech's handful of running backs will give NC State nightmares. Check this article out:http://hokiesports.com/football/recaps/20050827aaa.html

The N.C. State fans around here are talking huge smack on the call-in shows. They are confident that they will beat Va. Tech again this year. I think this is going to be one of the best games of the weekend, but I believe Tech will win by a small margin.
BTW, I heard the other day that someone asked Va. Tech asst. coach (and former Clemson player) Danny Pearman how Marcus Vick was doing. His answer was, "He's worth the price of admission!"

Tech's loss to NC State last year was a fluke, after all their only other losses were to USC and Auburn. NC State's offense is inconsistent without T.A. McClendon (in the NFL) and was Virginia Tech's O-line gets rollin and Vick's passes are on point NC State needs to watch out. Tech can put up points... ON ANY TEAM. (see Maryland last year)

Vick passed the ball well last night, but what caught my attention last night was the ineffectiveness of the defense. The Hokies are known for their outstanding D and special teams, but NC State ran all over the Hokies. The only reason they won was because of their efficiency when the game was on the line. GO HOKIES!!

Is this the team to UNSEAT USC? I think so!! Virginia Tech ran Georgia Tech out of Lane Stadium yesterday and the poise of Marcus Vick is amazing. Bud Foster has the defense playing well. Virginia Tech, Rose Bowl CHAMPS!!!

Ugly offense wise, but the Hokie defense stepped up well. How about J-Lew, 2 SACKS! Can you hear, 1st round draft pick? Hokies are now 7-0 and play Boston College next Thursday.

Hokies are now 8-1 after the loss to UDub. I called J-Lew for an explanation of the loss and he said bad execution. Well there's always next year for a national championship.
