Do any of you people out there believe that Ken Griffey,Jr. will be wearing the black and Silver by the end of the month?

Rumors have been circulating that he may be headed to Chicago for prospects.

I just can't why anybody would want his contract. He is just to injury prone.

Maybe as a DH.. but thats kind of expensive for a DH.

Besides that waivers would have to clear and New York has a thing for making poor investments on vetran injury prone players.

hmm not sure if its worth the risk but hes been hitting like the old griffey lately but if i was a team instrested id wait until next year too see if he is staying healthy and hitting still like the old griffey but i think his injury days are over and the white sox would really be favored if they got griffey

Supposedly from what I read it was a done deal during the last Saturday before the trade deadline and the CEO of the Reds killed it at the last minute.

I'd love to see Griffey on the south side but he would have to survive going through the entire league on waivers before the Sox could claim him. Granted, he has a HUGE contract that most teams might not want to take on. Still, I would be shocked if no other team claimed him. Especially the Yankees

Yeah, no doubt the Yankees would grab him first.

i remember on espn griffey said he would only go to 5 teams so im guessing the white sox was one of them if the trade almost got done and i know the dodgers were one i hope we get him before u guys!

Yeah really. The odds are really stacked against us anyway with the waiver wire for Griffey.

actually, the Sox were not one of the teams that Griffey said he would go to. It has something to do with the fact that his winter home is in Florida and he only wants to play for a team that holds thier spring training in Florida as well. The Sox hold thier spring training in Arizona. That may have also played part in the original deal not getting done. Or any future deal.

I heard on the local ESPN radio affiliate yesterday that this Griffey deal isn't dead yet. There still is a chance that the Sox might get him. Griffey also said in an interview something to the effect that he is not against coming to Chicago. So maybe this still could happen.

I heard the same thing on WFAN in New York this morning. Griffey has passed through waivers (nobody in his right mine wants to take on that salary), and the White Sox just might get him.

Yeah I heard this yesterday as well. Griffey just might come to the Sox after all. I think the only roadblock is his 40 million dollar salary. If the Reds and White Sox can work something out, he'll be in Chicago. I'm going to the Sox game tonight and I'm going to talk by buddy that works for the Sox and see if has has any inside info.
