I had a chance to look at the lineups in recent Twins games and I notice that Luis Rodriguez is only there as a defensive replacement or pinch-hitting role while Nick Punto is the everyday starter at second. My question is why. I don't see Nick being an everyday player. Sure he brings good things to the table at times like being an igniter to the offense and all, but he can strike out way too many times and he does not come up big in big hits.
Luis needs to get playing time so that the Twins can determine if he can be the everyday player at second base. I like to see him develop in that position. I think the guy can play. He always gets on base and he is usually clutch.
He gives the team a better shot to win than Nick Punto at this point.
I like to see him learn at the job. I am tired of watching Punto play

I think Nick Punto is the 2nd baseman of our future... and Luis Rodriguez..needs to groom himself as a utility man...(wow... haven't heard of a utility type player on the twins before)
I think the Twins have a great option at 2nd base already, and to mess with that would be a mistake IMO

Nick Punto is the second baseman of our future? How? He is good, but he strikes out way too much and he does great one out of six days. Luis Rivas can do that too. L-Rod needs to groom himself as a utility man? Perhaps, but I like to see him get a chance to play everyday. He always gets on base and he hits a lot. He ignites that lineup a lot. That's something Lecrap, Punto, and Rivas can't say.
One way or another, the Twins need a second baseman that can hit and catch the ball. They can't stick with the same ol.
