While y'all had a disappointing game in Houston, I got to watch a pretty good game in Corpus. The Hooks won 6-4, though it was closer than the score would lead you to believe as the tying runner was on second base when the batter flied out to end the game. There was lots to like about this game, though. Charlton Jimerson hit a 2-run homer to start off the scoring in the second inning. Someone came through the crowd collecting money for him, to which I was happy to contribute. A little while later, Josh Anderson hit a triple that was just over the glove of the left fielder and he was brought home on a single by Rodriguez (who was 2-for-3 with 2 walks and a stolen base). The Hooks recorded ten strikeouts, which meant that fans were given coupons for free breakfast or lunch tacos at Circle K. One of the K's didn't go for an out, though--the first time I've ever actually seen a person go to 1B on a strikeout. I think the thing that made the biggest impression on me was how the ballpark was such a big-league operation in so many little ways. There are cupholders at every seat. And they have guys coming 'round selling more'n just beer. By us we had guys selling funnel cake, snow cones, real lemonade, beer, peanuts, cracker jack, water and cotton candy. The snow cones they carry around are rainbow-colored but if you go to the stand, you can choose your own flavor(s) and apply the syrup yourself. Being as I'm nearly blind, I listened to the game on the radio while I watched. It was on 103.7 FM. I found out what station from one of the concessionaires. It was on the radio that I had the bad news about Clemens and the boys, though I understand it was also shown on the scoreboard.
