I am really an optimist, but I cant honestly tell you that I am not getting nervous. Our record since the break is mediocre and we are have lost 7 of our last 12 games. We are making mistakes that we were not making earlier this season.
Are we choking? I know the Sox have been downright fabulous so far, but could this year be like the last few years when we start off great and crumble down the stretch (the crumble just coming later this year?)
I know we will still win the division since we have such a big lead, but what about playoffs? God forbid we have to play Oakland!
Sorry, just need a little reassurance that we are still king of the hill. Hopefully Ozzie will keep the ship righted and get it done.

no. even the best team in baseball (the cardinals) go through bad stretches. besides, you could play perfect the rest of the season and that wont matter a lick when it comes to the playoffs. whatever happens there is independent of what happens in the regular season.

I wouldn't worry about a thing there hoss. We're just a little banged up right now. Look at the Cards. They've trotted out basically the Colrado Rockies lineup every night and they still win.
Everything will be OK there. At least we have that comfort of having that huge lead in the division.

I wasn't very worried before this week. After getting swept at home by the Twins though, I'm starting to.

Yeah, losing 5 in a row and overall just playing like crap lately does not bode well. Oh well, if your gonna go cold and have a bad streak this is the time to do it ---> with a big lead in your division and the playoffs far enough away that you can get things righted in time.
Even our aces are not looking so good. :( :whew:

I started this thread almost a month ago and I cant say that things are looking any better. We had a good winning streak, but against KC and Detroit :loser: .
I have lost alot of optimism for this team. They are not playing the same type of baseball that they did in the first half of the season. In early July, if you asked me, I would have said we were gonna go all the way. If you ask me the same question today I would answer that I am not even sure we are gonna make the playoffs. We are tanking bad and Cleveland is hot hot hot!
Anyone changed thier opinions?
GO SOX! Get this ship righted soon!

Well, the 6 games vs. Cleveland could help or hurt you guys. Who knows, it may come down to the last series, both in the AL EAST and in the AL CENTRAL.

I'm beginning to have my doubts to go along with my nervous ticks. :(
This has been a total team meltdown the past several weeks. Our best pitcher down the stretch won't be starting start unless El Duque gets lit up again,or Freddy's arm falls off.
Hermansen's back has been bothering him all season.Podsednik has lost a step since the All-Star Break, our offense has been inconsistent at best.Ozzie continues to sit key players at the most inopportune time.
Add all of those up,and this is what you have right now.Instead of this road trip being our coronation, this has become a fight for our playoff lives now.

Agreed. I dont get to see alot of the games, but every one I see on WGN, ESPN or local (which is when they play the Mariners) it seems like we have our 2nd team out there. I have not seen Konerko play in a long time. I know he plays other games, I just cant see them.
We had better fire it up this week vs the Tribe or your tickets will likely go to waste. We have a smaller lead on the wildcard spot right now than we had on the division just a few weeks ago. Give the Indians credit though, they are playing great and taking advantage of a slumpig Sox team.
Keep youir fingers crossed that we play well vs Cleveland and get back on track.
