I'm leaving this one up to you guys. I have a simple poll: yes or no. Here is the deal they way I could see it drawn up.
Reds get
Zeke Astacio
Fernando Nieve
Astros get
Ken Griffey Jr.
His 2005 remaining salary in cash

I was watching the game last night and thinking the very same thing about how the Astros are a team that could really use Jr.
First, I doubt that Cincinnati would trade Griffey to a team within their division. Second, are the Astros really willing to take on his 40 million dollars in remaining pay? I mean, the Yankees didn't so why would any other team?

I think they should. They need a power house in the lineup.

I said yes. While I'm not in favor of giving up the farm, I feel a big LH bat might be what it will take to put the Astros over the top. Injury risk is always a concern with Jr. but he has stayed healthy this year and 40 more games is all I'm concerned about. Nieve is a GREAT prospect, and ZeQ has shown flashes of becoming a good ML pitcher, but how many times have we seen top pitching prospects fail to live up to potential due to injuries or whatever?
After everything has been said however, I think it would take more than 2 pitching prospects to land Griffey.

the Cubs announcers mentioned last night that Bagwell may be back by the end of the season for pinch hitting duties. Just think about adding Griffey and have Bags on the bench (and to DH in the World Series;)) ? Not too bad eh?

Yeah Spitball, I answered yes partially because I set up the trade in a way that would be palatable. Who knows, the Reds would probably demand three prospects and offer to pay nothing off of it. Looking at Clemens back concerns I am leaning more and more towards this being his last season. If that is the case then taking on 13 million a season isn't as bad. This is particularly true if a Griffey can help the team get back to the NLCS. I'm not sure if people know how much extra revenue that brought in.
