The Twins will honor the 1965 team all weekend long with pagentries and ceremonies. I know most of the players that are alive will attend. It was nice to see guys like Jim Kaat and Camilo Pascual in the game tonight. It's a shame though Jimmie Hall will not attend. From what I read in Reusse's interview with Hall few weeks ago, he sounded bitter about the way his time with the Twins ended. It's also shame some of the best players like Earl Battey,Zoilo Versalles, Bob Allison, Johnny Klippstein, Jerry Zimmerman and Cesar Tovar passed away. It would have been nice to learn more about em. I know Pascual did not seem comfortable about even going to the reunion till Tony Oliva convinced him to come.

As for the 65 team, I wish I got to watch them. I heard that they were a great team. The best Twins team ever in which the 65 Twins were better than the 87 and 91 Twins. Unfortunately, they ran into some darn good Dodgers pitchers in Drysdale and Koufax. The best part about that team besides being very good is that they played in a real outdoor ballpark in Bloomington.

It's going to be good to read about them and hear about them all weekend long

There is a great book titled, "The Cool of the Evening" that cronicles the 65 Twins. It's well worth the read.

I remember that during the 65 series, my Dad got to go to the games at the Met. He had front row seats! I was in grade school and when there were day games, all the students were brought into the gym and they had multiple TVs lining the wall and we got to watch the games during school!

I have three of the games from the 65 WS on tape. Classic Sports and the local Fox affiliate have broadcast the games that are known to exist. I love to pull them out now and then, even though I know the outcome.

I will go to Barnes and Noble and see if that book exists, TC. I would love to read about it for sure.

Any fond memories that you got out of the 65 Twins besides being in the World Series and all, TC. Does anything stick out to you from that team? I would love to hear more stories about that team.

I miss the Met. Comparing the Dome to the Met, the Dome makes the Met look like Camden Yards. Playing at the Dome was the stupidest decision this franchise ever made.

TVs in school? That's unheard of now. I would love to watch sporting events on TV at school.

I was a huge fan of Mudcat Grant and Jim Kaat. Al Worthington, the closer, was another player I liked. Allison and Killebrew were actually hurt a fair amount that year. Tony O and Zoilo carried the team.

I loved that '65 Twins team as well. Jim Katt, Mudcat Grant and Camilo Pasqual were the three horses with guys like Jim Perry, Jim Merritt, Dave Boswell and Dick Stigman sharing some of the load. I never could figure out why Jim Perry was so dis-liked by Sam Mele:notme: but he was huge down the stretch.
