Great job by the Twins taking three out of four against Seattle. This win was so huge this afternoon. You gotta beat the bad teams and the Twins got it done this weekend. It was very important to get this game. To get a split would probably deflat this team a little bit. It's nice to face the Mighty Whities Tuesday on a big roll.
The Twins hitters continue to rake the ball and drive the runners home. Man when I write that sentence, I am always in shock considering how bad this offense has been all year. Almost everyone got a hit today and that's the big reason why the Twins are back in the playoff race. To get six runs in the fifth is a beauty. Lew was front and center again as he hit a three-run HR to give the Twins the lead for good and everything started piling on. Lew is hot right now as he is saving the best for last and it can't come at a better time. I hope he does not cool off.
What a week it has been for Matty Lecroy. He drove the runners home again today. He has done a fantastic job. In my book, he is the AL Player of the Week. I am so proud of him for what he is doing.
With Lew, Michael Cuddyer, and Matty grabbing headlines, let's not forget Shannon and Joe Mauer. Those two have been hitting well quietly.
Brad did a good job overall on the mound.
Just a great weekend and a great week for the good guys. Hopefully, this current Twins team left an impression to the '65 Twins team in which they have been persistent and determined out there. With the Twins win and A's losing two of three to KC, Twins are now 2.5 games back of the Wild-Card race. What you are seeing is remarkable. I never ever thought I would type these words in this message board.
This team will receive a well-deserved day off Monday. I will be doing some scoreboard watching tommorow as I will root for the Devil Rays over the red-hot Indians and pray to God that the Blue Jays don't pee on their pants playing the Yankees.
