A recent story reported that Jacque Jones planned to test the free-agent market at the end of the season, but what Jones wants is something he has never had: a decent multiyear contract with the Twins. He did have a two-year contract at one point. "Talk to Terry Ryan and find out what it is all about," said Jones, who wants a long-term contract to secure his future. You would think, with the lack of hitters on the Twins roster, that Jones would be an important signing for the future.

I think this has to get done......

I say let Jaque Go, Use his 6ish million dollars he will likely want, and spend it on a FA.... and really what wouldnt' be a terrible idea..is make a deal with Torii hunter... Yes he is the face of the franchise, and he is one of hte best centerfielders in baseball...but really, His Contract could free up space that could get us great hitters, Lew Ford is no slouch defensively in center...

We could use the salary freedom to go after a third baseman or a Short Stop

He has stepped up this year. He is one of the best RF out there and one of the best deals the Twins could get I feel also. But also he might try to make the Twins overpay for him thinking he can get more in the FA market. Double egded sword here I feel. But if Lew could step up and then that would free up one of those outfielders to make LeCroy the full time DH that a few of us think he should be...

Shad is right. We need to see Jacque on the team. As good as Kubel could be, this is nothing more than a potential. Jacque can be frustrating to watch, but at least this guy is a gamer especially on defense. He has shown that he can rise to the occasion. Considering how the Twins hitters can be feast or famine, I don't think this team can afford to let Jacque walk. Of course if Jacque plays this well down the strech, some team could blow the Twins offer out of the water.

As for Torii, I don't think he will be a happy camper if his friend, Jacque leaves. Torii has made that clear.
