So, whats the skinny here?
I heard that the Twins actually picked him up on waivers and the Rangers have so much time to match the offer...
I also heard there was actually a trade on the table involving Lohse and someone else for him..
Whats the deal?

Dead deal. The Rangers wanted the Twins top two pitching prospects for him and they said no. They offered Lohse and a guy out of the pen for him but the Rangers did want him.
So the Twins did pick him up off waviers but couldnt get a deal worked out because of the Rangers wanting the same things. (Why you get a ok pitcher and a good bullpen guy for a guy leaving in the offseason???) But the Rangers pulled him back off waivers so he is stuck now with them...

This couldnt have been haoppening anyhow. If Soriano had been claimed by the Twins, the Rangers couldnt trade h im.

The Twins was trying to work out a deal for him but that didnt work and then when he cleared waviers that was when the Twins claimed him.

shad, not sure how much you understand about waivers... but once a guy clears waivers, it is the end of the process... he cant be claimed by anyone. Every team gets a chance to claim a player on waivers... if Soriano is claimed, the Rangers could either pull him off... or let him go to that team. If no one claims him, they can then trade him.. but there is no claiming being made after that.

This is what you are syaing that is confusing me, though. Once he clears waivers, he cant be claimed any longer. That is the end of the process. What do you mean by this?

I will break it down for you.... :D
The Twins was trying to work out a deal for him but that didnt work
This is the July 31 time frame...
when he cleared waviers that was when the Twins claimed him.
This has been the past two days....
Hope that helped figure out what I said... :D

This is what I am going on now..
The Minnesota Twins have claimed second baseman Alfonso Soriano on special revocable waivers from the Rangers. It means the Rangers have until Monday afternoon to allow Minnesota to simply pick up his contract, to trade him to the Twins or to revoke the waivers and retain his rights. The last possibility is the most likely. The Twins had offered the Rangers Kyle Lohse or Joe Mays, J.C. Romero and a minor leaguer for Soriano in July, but the Rangers passed.

Soriano is not coming to Minnesota. End of story. Twins blocked him so that they can prevent Cleveland from getting Soriano. A little birdie told me that the Indians had interest in acquiring Soriano.
Unless Texas wants Kyle Lohse for Soriano, that ain't happening. Texas feels that that they can do better in the off-season in dumping him.
I had a chance to watch Baseball Tonight just so I can soak in the highlights of the game from tonight. Gammons went off on the Twins for not going for it by trading Liriano for Soriano. WTF is he talking about? First off, Twins would be stupid to go trade two guys who can help wins games for a guy who is just a rental and nothing more. With the division being even more better next year, TR would be crazy to trade Liriano and Baker for a guy who has dreams of playing for the Yankees or Mets once he is a free agent. Also didn't Gammons said the Twins would be wise not to trade Liriano for anyone when he was announcing for the Futures All-Star Game in Detroit. I have no idea what Gammons was thinking tonight.
