Eric Kuselias (sp?) is my favorite ESPN Radio guy, hands down.

True dat! He was doing the show yesterday for Patrick and I couldn't take it anymore:yadda:
I think Colin Cowherd is also ok....
I also agree that Patrick was much, much better with Dibbs... I also liked it when he had Sean Salisbury on the show.. Him and Dibbs were funny as hell...

I watch Mike & Mike as I'm getting ready to go to work and then listen to them on the way. They're far superior to anything local at that time of the morn. My only problem with them is that they try to make far more out of a subject than is actually there. I realize that's their job, more or less, but at times they try to spin more controversy out of a minor story than they probably should:notme:

I love Mike & Mike. But then, how could I not? They've read my e-mails on the air and have said on the show that I'm their favorite Mets fan. :D
Erik Kusilias isn't too bad, but he's just as much a metrosexual as Greeny, and I'm not into metros.
And I absolutely adore Bob Picozzi, despite the fact that he's a Yankee fan. ;) He's got a wicked sense of humor.

I don't listen to Mike and Mike. If anything, I can't stand listening to Greeny. Golic is okay. Greeny annoys me to no end. Ever since the show was on 1050 ESPN Radio (NYC affiliate), Greenie has become more of a typical NY sports fan in which he has the mentality of NY sports great, everyone bad. He has become too Joe Benigno-like on his show as you can tell by his love affair with the Jets and Chad Pennington. For those who don't know Joe Benigno, he does a radio show on WFAN in the mornings and he is another obnoxious NY sports fan. That show used to be a national sports show, but now it has become too much of a NY sports show for me so I stopped listening to it.
BG: You love Dan Patrick? The guy puts me to sleep and half the time he does not talk sports. I rather listen to four hours of Stephen A. Smith in the afternoons than listen to Patrick. I think Patrick is washed up IMO like his colleague, Chris Berman.
TC: Here's a lesson on sports radio 101. In sports radio, you always try to make controversy out of a subject to get listeners to tune in, call the show, or to send emails. I agree with what you said about Mike and Mike, but that's sports radio for you.
While I am ripping everyone on ESPN Radio, I might as well rip the 1050 ESPN Radio affliate. 1050 ESPN Radio has been a failure IMO. They don't get ratings. They don't get the phone calls. They get nothing. The hosts on the station get ripped constantly in the papers here. 1050 was supposed to be the antidote to WFAN. Unfortunately, that station has been brutal to listen. It started out good, but then they improvised way too much and hired losers like Michael Kay, Wally and the Keeg (thank God those two were fired because they were an embrassment to sports radio), Curtis Silwa, Brandon Tierney, Max Kellerman, Don Legreca, and etc. Those guys know nothing about sports and they rarely talk sports. They fit the mentality of a NY sports fan. Legraca used to be great, but that's because I made him look great when he and I used to be chums. I was the only one that called Don's show at the time and I got him ratings because I ripped NY sports fans and everyone ripped me. Apparently, Don did not like the fact that he got criticism and he turned his back on me. His boss wasn't crazy about me being a lightning rod. WFAN ain't much better either when it comes to sports.
What 1050 needs to do is move Stephen A. Smith to drive time and fire Michael Kay, who's ratings have been horrible.
Sports radio in NY is a joke. It's sad I get my sports fix from Toronto or Minneapolis or Southern California.

I REALLY beg to differ.
I'm a white, middle-aged female who hates both rap music and basketball, so Stephen A. Smith does NOTHING for me. He has no use whatsoever for my demographic, and I have no use for him. I find him to be unlistenable. On the odd occasion when I have listened to him, all I notice is that he yells all the time, is unbearably rude and is nasty to callers more often than not. He plays the race card constantly, and I have no respect for people who do that.
I loved Wally & the Keeg. I thought they treated listeners with respect, which is more than one can say about Smith. I found them to be more intelligent and thought-provoking than the yelling-just-to-hear-himself-yell that Smith does.
Michael Kay is a Yankee shill, but I do find his show to be quite entertaining. He doesn't treat Mets fans like dirt and will actually admit it if he doesn't know something about a certain topic (like hockey). Smith is a blowhard and a know-it-all who can never admit if he's wrong.

I agree with what you said about Stephen A. Smith, Julie. With that said, he is probably the best out there of all the hosts at 1050 which just shows how bad the station is. I don't take his opinions seriously though. I personally think he is just an act even if he denies it. I get to watch him on ESPN's NBA Shootaround since I am a basketball junkie. He is like that too, but I take his opinions with a grain of salt. If anything, I just laugh at him. I liken him more as an entertainer than a talk show host and I think that's what he wants to be. I give Stephen one thing. He at least talks about sports outside of NY and he comes up with interesting topics. BTW, I can't stand him peeing on his pants when he talks about that phoney Knicks head coach Larry Brown. Listening to him during basketball season is going to be painful. Knowing the type of person Stephen is, it would not suprise me to worship a con artist in Larry Brown.
Wally Matthews annoyed the hell out of me. This guy was way too negative for me. He whines like a little kid half the time. His cynicism annoyed me. Tom Keegan was way too smug for me. He acted like he knew baseball more than anyone else. He acted like he knew more baseball than Abner Doubleday. They just annoyed me to no end.
Kay's show can be entertaining, but then Kay goes out of his way to act like a child at times. Like he talks about how the writers are out to get him and how TV critics want to see him fail. Gee I wonder what makes him think that way. He brings that upon himself. He also takes shots at WFAN just to pimp his show up and be in the papers. Why would he give the other station a promotion? I always thought he comes off smug there too. He started off well, but now he is just annoying.
I am just glad the station hired Jody McDonald to do the weekend shows now. Too bad he will never be on the station in the mornings and all.

Jim Rome is okay, Robin. He is great when he is funny. With that said, I don't like it when he kicks people when they are down like when he wants a NFL team to go winless and all. I also don't like when he ridcules the callers that call the show.
As for his show, I don't listen to it. I just go to his website at www.jimrome.com and read his takes of the day from there.

I can't stand all those ESPN hosts who are such fake slap-dicks. They all are exactly the same, and never give anything but the same opinions on everything.
I love Jim Rome. He's got a major cult-like following, and he is hilarious. It's great that he just has a sports talk show, and doesn't have to do any gimmicky extras on his show.

Jay Mariotti rocks IMO.
I learned a lot about sports through watching him and reading him. I became a huge fan of his when he used to do a radio show for 1 on 1 Sports/Sporting News Radio back in the day.
I try to patent my sports takes after Jay in terms of style and substance.
