Can I hear a Alleulla! I thought so. Thank God! I have been waiting for this day to come. It's about freaking time. Even if this team is done, I do not want to see Joe Mays anymore. Enough is enough. His performance spoke for itself this year. It's time for a change.

It's unfortuante that things did not work out for Joe. It really is. He had that great year in 2000, but he never became the same after that. He was getting hit hard and this year, the roof caved in.

Twins had to make this move even if they were done. Joe Mays was an automatic loss out there every time he started and the fans really let him have it last night.

It was time for a change.

He just got tried that is all. It takes about 3 years to come back full strength after what he went though. Had a great start just ran out of gas at the end here.

Next year if he is around he should come back stronger yet and be able to go though the whole year as history shows us.

Good move though let him get some R & R and come out of the pen to throw a few innings and bring him back next year.

Francisco Liriano, considered the top pitcher in minor league baseball, will be in Minnesota by Sept. 1.

Don't expect Joe Mays, to start again for the Twins.

There is also this.

Struggling pitcher Joe Mays is out of the rotation, and depending on the roster move the Twins make to create room for his replacement, he could be off the roster completely, at least temporarily.

"When we get closer to that time, for Joe's next start, we're going to make a move,'' manager Ron Gardenhire said. "On Sunday, we'll figure it out and how we're going to have to make roster moves.''

The easy part of the equation is this: Right-hander Scott Baker is expected to be recalled in time to take Mays' spot in the rotation by Monday's scheduled start in Kansas City.

But with just two days remaining after that to lock in the configuration of the playoff roster, that could mean a number of possible combinations of moves in that time window, including the possibility Mays could be technically optioned to the minors for a few days, or in an extreme case, even released.

That's because, regardless of the Mays-Baker swap, the Twins plan to make a paper move to reconfigure the roster to include 10 pitchers, instead of the current 11, and add an extra position player.

As for Sunday night's move, "We've got some time here to see where we're at,'' Gardenhire said. "I think everybody knows where we're at (with Mays). We're trying to straighten a few things out roster-wise.''
