It's way beyond ridiculous. 8 times he's been shutout this year. 5 times they've lost games Roger has started by a score of 1-0  Once 3-0 and once 2-0. Once 9-0, a game he allowed 2 runs through 8 innings. A totally worthless Franco and an equally worthless Springer allowed 7 runs in the ninth against the Reds. He's allowed more than 3 ER's in a game only once this year. His record should be 20-3 at this point with another Cy Young award already locked up. The Astros offense is totally pathetic with him on the mound.

I know, we'll start a charity. Runs for Roger. Teams can donate extra runs from blowouts to pitchers that are having quality starts, but whose offense is anemic. I mean, teams that win 10-3 or 11-3 and the like can afford to donate 5 runs to Runs for Roger and even after the 1 run cost of administration is subtracted, that's still 4 runs. We'd let the statistics stay the same so that the pitchers who gave up the runs and the players who scored them would still get credited.

His record should be 20-3 at this point with another Cy Young award already locked up.I agree that he's the best pitcher this season in the NL. And I was also on record last year with a vote for Randy Johnson as the NL CY even though his record wasn't as good as it should've been. Wins-Losses are useless in determining how well someone has pitched.

I would agree with that but you know the voters dont.. I think Carpenter is definitely the leader now in the voters eyes after winning his 11 start in a row for his 19th win last night.. He also lowered his era to 2.29..
Look at the #'s from the top 3 candidates:
Name Team .............G GS W L SV CG SHO IP ...H ..R ER .HR BB K ...ERA WHIP BAA
Roger Clemens HOU ......27 27 11 6 0 1 0 184.1 120 36 31 8 49 167 1.51 0.92 .184
Chris Carpenter STL ....27 27 19 4 0 6 4 204.0 157 57 52 14 42 183 2.29 0.98 .214
Dontrelle Willis FLA ...27 27 18 8 0 6 5 186.0 167 58 54 7 42 130 2.61 1.12 .243

The fact that "the voters" think differently than me is not necessarily a bad thing in my mind, James. It's like the idea that I haven't voted for the winning candidate in a US Presidential election since '88. I feel good about that considering how the last 4 elections have turned out.
