I BELIEVE
I believed in '57, when the wrecking ball crashed through the old ballpark.
I believed another team would be born to mend my broken heart.
I believed in '62 when they lost 120 games.
I believed in the old skipper, Choo Choo, Gil and all the lovable rest.
I believed in 64' when the new park came to life.
I believed, despite it's quirks; It was a place to call home
I believed in '66 when "Mets" was pulled from the commissioners hat
I believed in "The Franchise" and the teams "Terrific" future
I believed in '69 when they said we didn't have a chance...
I believed in timely hitting, great pitching, clutch fielding and the well placed Miracle...
And I believed my Mets to be so Amazing that they became Unbelievable
I believed in '73 when Tug told me that I gotta do it
I believed in my heroes even after the magic ran out in seven
I believed in '77 when they traded our Tom
I believed we would both be ok, when my heart had time to mend
I believed in '83 when a golden first baseman arrived from St. Louis
I believed that was the beginning of something great
I believed in '86 when the Sox were just a strike away
I believed in timely hitting, great pitching, not so clutch fielding and the well placed Miracle...
And, again, I believed my Mets to be so Amazing they became Unbelievable
I believed in '93 when all the miracles and magic seemed to turn their backs on our Mets
I believed we would be back, despite the unforgivable trades and painful signings
I believed in '99 after we dropped seven straight and were two games back
I believed when we were 0-3 and I was never prouder of the boys even after ball four
I believed, facing the Dynasty...
I believed in the Miracle waiting around the corner and a hero yet to be born
And I will still believe even if they are not the better team
I am proud to be a Met fan and I will always believe through thick and thin, because I will always believe in Mets Magic
