Why did it take this long? Rapp hasn't had a good outing yet, injury or not.
This means Fogg or Lowe will be in the rotation. That's a good sign. Then when Villone goes down the drain, whoever doesn't make it steps into the rotation and Beimel comes back up or moves into long relief.
Regardless of what Littlefield said, Rapp's comments had to be taken into consideration.

If Rapp's comments were taken into consideration, then why is Bell still with the team? Rapp's comments, if not exactly called for, were at least made in part out of his frustration with himself. The comments to me sounded more like a desperate man reaching for anything to hold onto rather than something an arrogant, pompous butt cheese like Bell would say.
I'm not saying we should've held onto Rapp, but I don't think his comments should have helped to push him out the door, otherwise, Bell should be long gone by now.

Good points.
I think Bell is still with this team because his salary is tougher to swallow. Rapp was just a gamble. If he works out, great. If he fails, oh well. But Bell needs to be paid 4.5M yet, so no doubt that is hindering the Pirates' willingness to release him. If Bell was a non roster invitee he'd be gone; if Rapp had a 4.5M contract he'd still be here.
