1.New York Yankees
2.Seattle Mariners
3.St. Louis Cardinals
4.Arizona Diamondbacks
5/Atlanta Braves
6.Oakland Athletics
7.Houston Astros
8.New York Mets
9.Boston Red Sox
10.Chicago White Sox
11.SF Giants
12.Florida Marlins
13.Minnesota Twins
14.Cleveland Indians
15.Chicago Cubs
16.LA Dodgers
17.Philadelphia Phillies
18.Anaheim Angels
19.San Diego Padres
20.Texas rangers
21.Toronto Bluejays
22.Colorado Rockies
23.Milwaukee Brewers
24.Detroit Tigers
25.Montreal Expos
26.Baltimore Orioles
27.Cincinnati Reds
28.Kansas City Royals
29.Pittsburgh Pirates
30/Tampa Bay Devil Rays

They are predicting the following for the postseason:

DIVISION SERIES-Yankees over Athletics
Mariners over White Sox

Cardinals over Braves
Diamondbacks over Astros

Yankees over Mariners
Cardinals over Diamondbacks

WORLD SERIES-Yankees over Cardinals

I must disagree with them on Houston being ranked so high and playing in the postseason. They could if their starting pitching is superb. I don't believe the Chicago Cubs should be ranked so low.

Reds #27? That is rediculous in my humble opinion! I think they will be at least in the top 15! I guess we will see starting April 1!!! I can't wait!:bigsquare

Haha goreds, look at your screename...a lil biased? lol....I think Houston is a very legit team, but they will have some trouble getting past those Card's....Overall, I agree with those picks....although a DieHard M's fan, I think the Yanks will win it all.

I'm sorry Adam, but a team who's "ace" is Elmer Dessens is doomed to a stretch of cellar-dwelling. And I think that the M's will be out to get the Yanks this year, and win it all, like they should have last year.

the yanks are an all star team in themselves. they will win the world series. they should be contracted.

Joe, before last year, everyone was saying the Yankees would win it all. You really can't predict something like that.

Right now the Reds' ace is not Elmer Dessens. Opening day starter is Joey Hamilton. I have a lot of faith in the Reds' starting rotation. I feel they are all going to be good pitchers, and with the help of a decent offense, and the best bullpen in the national league, the Reds' will be a respectable team.

Goreds, Sullivan, Graves, and Williamson are great pitchers out of the pen. But that's not better than Kline, Isrinhausen, etc. in St. Louis, nor is it better than a healthy Gordon, Fassero, and Farnsworth. A case could be made for Houston's bullpen too with Dotel and Wagner, plus Jackson who is at least at par with Sullivan. Rodriguez and Nen form a great combination in San Francisco. No doubt the Reds have a good bullpen, but the best in the National League? That's stretching it.

Evan, i know that you cant predict anything, no one can predict the future. I was just giving my educated opinion on who was going to win it all.

Evan, the Yankees have done nothing but improved since last year. Despite the heartbreaking lose of a glove and bat from the locker of Mr Jeter, they are intact from last year, and one superstar better, with the addition of Jason Giambi. I would love to see them lose 100 games, heck, I would settle to even see them lose in the playoffs! But sadly, that won't happen.

JoeMcClenahan

Sam, i totally agree with those comments, but you also said that only a bat and glove were lost from the clubhouse, but also, a future Hofer, a brilliant defensive glove, and one of the most powerfull bats in the majors, not to mention the indomidable spirit, and colerful personality. You must now know whom i speak of, no, not the one and only Paul Oneil, not THE David Justice, but yes, i speak of the everlasting, and immortal, Scott Brosius. With that loss, i find it hard to believe that they will even win the season series agianst the baltimor orioles(backed with the all star caliber pitching of willis roberts)!

no.. joe.. trust me...

the yankees will not be playing in the WS this year. Write that down... it will come to pass.

I would bet my SOUL that the yankees will make the playoffs this season. Barring some catastrophy, such as a meteor striking the team yacht as it sails through the panama canal on its way to the safeco field, and then all the players miraculously survive, only to be captured by pirates, and forced to work as sugarcane farmers, where derek jeter and jason giambi stub their toes, and are unable to play for the remaining 150 games of the seasons. Then i would guess that the yankees would not make the playoffs, but ONLY then.

joe.. did I ever say that they wouldn't make the playoffs?? I believe that I said they would not play in the world series.

sorry, my bad, but the same applies for them making the ws as well.:drinkin:

NO WAY Yanks get to WS.

JoeMcClenahan

as a yankee hater myself, i hate to say that they will.... BUT THEY WILL! Name one team you think could contend with them, and i will promptly destroy all hope you had in that team.

Maybe this year someone will suprise the baseball world in the playoffs in the same way that the Mariners suprised it in the regular season, and will sweep the Yanks in the first round!!:bigsquare

You CANNOT destroy my faith in another team to knock off the Yanks, because it is too strong. If you are so damn sure,(sure enough to sell your soul) that the Yanks will win the WS, why bother to watch? I mean, technically, you HAVE ALREADY SOLD YOUR SOUL TO THE YANKS by making such a statement.

You are looking at the Yanks on paper. Sure, IF everyone is healthy, IF Clemens can have another stellar year, they will be tough to beat. But there are intangibles, that may work against them.

THIS IS WHY THEY PLAY THE GAMES!!!!

Thanx, and enjoy your day.:angel2:

This post brought to you by a die-hard, slightly insane Sox fan, who would just assume pour HOT ACID all over herself, than say the Yanks will win the WS.:barf:

Unfortunately I agree with Joe as my prediction thread suggests that the Yanks will make the series....At this point I just really don't see another team beating them.....
Who really got all that better in the offseason to make me believe they can beat the Yanks???
Lord knows I hope I'm wrong on this:ohno:

Man those SI playoff scenario is awfully close to mine in the the official predictions thread...The AL scenario is exactly the same..
In the NL I have the same teams except the Mets instead of the Braves.....
The World Series I also have the Yanks over the Cards.......

As far as the ranking s go I would move the Braves a little lower and the Astros and Mets a little higher as well as maybe the Rangers.....
Also think Cards are #2 team....

let's turn that around a little bit. What did the Yankees do to make themselves that much better in the offseason?? Aside from getting a year older?

Jason the sellout Giambi.

Steve now Stanton won't get over-used Karsay.

Rondell if I stay healthy I'll knock in a bunch of runs White.

by picking up giambi, what the Yankees did was increas their 1st base production by a total of 4 homeruns and 7 RBI...

in picking up rondell white, they lost 1 RBI and 1 homer over David Justice.

at 3rd base, they picked up 8 homers and 12 RBIs...

don't forget to subtract the stuff that they lkost when you look at what they gained...

also... look down through the yankees injuy list right now. it looks like an infirmary during WWII

my last piece of reasoning why the yankees won't play in the WS, is because David Justice doesn't play for them.

Jacqui, you're crackin' me up!!!

Okay, I can't believe that I've never made my way to this Forum.

Is this where I predict the O's will make the playoffs?

HEY! Stop laughing!:eviltongu

Okay. Well I don't believe they're as bad as all the rankings say.

Check out ST... which, I know :hmm: , doesn't mean anything:

Grapefruit League-leading 18-7 record

The Orioles' five starting pitchers - have combined for a 3.17 earned run average. Their pitching staff has given up fewer home runs (14) and fewer walks (50) than any other American League staff. Their defense has committed fewer errors (13) and turned more double plays (46) than any in the league.

I'm just sayin'.......

:P

.... well, hell. A gal can dream.

NO YANKEES IN THE WS!!!!!:2guns:

Justice sucked most of last year, not including all his DL time. What does he have to do with the Yanks not winning?

Although, they won't.

imgreat95
03-27-2002, 03:33 PM
pretty simple, actually...

yes.. justice DID have a bad year last season... BUT!!!!

David Justice, in his last 11 seasons, has been on a team to go o the playoffs 11 times.

and he has played in the WS 5 of the last 7 seasons. For that reason, the A's wiill be playing in the WS.

The Yankees can be beat-that was proved last season in the World Series between Arizona and New York. I believe if the St. Louis Cardinals make it to the World Series and the Yankees make it that the Cardinals can win. I'm really impressed with their squad. You got Tino Martinez, Jim Edmonds, Albert Pujols and J.D. Drew. That's quite an offense there. I like their pitching staff with Morris and Kile and Isringhausen as their closer. The Yankees may prevail but they can be beat. If they have a couple of key injuries in 2002 they will be toast.

You're using Irrationality too.

I like the A's, but I don't see them going either.

it's not irrationality, jacqui.. it's proven fact.

Fact is, pitching wins championships... the A's have pitching. therefore, they A's will win.

Not because of Justice.

imgreat95
03-27-2002, 04:06 PM
justice is just the factor that puts them over the top... and...if justice stays healthy he can put pretty good numbers.
