Class A Hagerstown Suns advanced to the South Atlantic League's Championship and will begin a best-of-five series against Kannapolis on September 12th. ... Gary Carter guided the Rookie League Gulf Coast Mets to the Eastern Division title in his first year as manager and has been selected the League's Manager of the Year. The Mets compiled a 37-16 regular season record and lost the Yankees in the playoffs. Gulf Coast SS Jonathan Schemmel was selected the league's Player of the Month for August. The 22-year-old had a .347 batting average and a .504 on-base percentage in 101 at-bats this year.
