You gotta be kidding me. Patrick Reusse implied that Punto is the odds-on favorite to be a starter. I almost choked on my oatmeal just reading that. WTF did this scrub do even start let alone be on the team next season? What value does he have? Huh? So he plays good defense. What else? He jumpstarts the thing and do the little things? Yeah 1 out of 9 games. Luis Rivas can do better than that. Heck Juan Freaking Castro is more valuable than Nick Punto.

Why can't this organization give L-Rod a shot at second is beyond me? Why can't Gardenhire trust him? Why does he trust Punto who gives you nothing basically. Just exactly what Punto does is beyond me. I think he should go elsewhere. I am tired of watching him. He stinks.

If he can stay healthy I can see why he should start. He can be a spark plug and is one of the best at laying down a bunt. When you have a team behind you that can hit and get the job done then that is an important part of a offense.

Also sad how the middle part of a defense just gets looked at by offense numbers now and not how many runs they save also with there glove.

L-Rod can play good defense and put good numbers while Nick just plays good D.

Look we got no great hitters out there for Nick to be a table setter. Besides Shannon, who else. Let's not confuse Nick to David Eckstein.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Punto as a starter. Rivas won't be back. Punto has speed which is very valuable on the basepaths.
