Light failure delays Marlins-Mets game

NEW YORK (AP) - Play was delayed for 12 minutes in the eighth inning of Wednesday night's game between the Florida Marlins and New York Mets when two small sections of lights failed at the far end of the right- and left-field lines at Shea Stadium.
Carlos Delgado was at bat leading off the eighth when the two sections of lights went out. He stepped out of the batter's box and the umpires called time to allow the repair. When play resumed, Delgado struck out.
