I read where he ripped his players for not playing hard and for not caring in today's Strib after another disgracefull loss to the Royals. It's pretty easy to go blame the players and all. I think it's time Gardenhire stop acting like a child when things go bad and start learning how to lead. Gardenhire should have address this the minute the game was over instead of popping out to the media. In fact, he should have address this the first week of September when the team quit on him. Why address it now? When did he start realizing the team quit on him? Why did it took so long for him to figure this out? This team has been Dead Team Walking all year. For Gardy to figure this out Monday night just shows you how inept he is at his job. For him to blame the players is a copout which proves my point that this team has been god-awful all year (I sure proved my point on the Twins on how bad they are and how they are below a .500 team, eh Mark) and the fact this team has zero talent as far as hitting goes. Gardy needs to have his players ready to play and he has done a poor job of that all year. Instead of him attacking the players and fighting with the umpires like a total idiot, he ought to take a look at the mirror and ask himself what he can do to get his team to play hard and get the most out of his talent. When I see Bobby Cox, Tony LaRussa, Mike Scioscia, Frank Robinson, Jerry Narron, Ned Yost, Buck Showalter, Mike Hargrove, and Ken Macha get the most out of players that are not that talented, I would like to think Gardenhire would do the same too with a team that is as talented as the teams that those guys I mentioned managed. Terry Ryan gave him the players to work with. You have to as a manager make Michael Cuddyer into a good bat, thats the job of a manager. Good ones do it bad ones don't. Gardy fails in that category badly.
I just wonder if Gardy has the temperant or the maturity to manage the next generation of guys with his scrapegoating act. What he did Monday night was pathetic. He should have address this on close doors and he should have address this in the third week in September when the guys quit on him.
