The Twins are planning a 50-year anniversary ceremony Sunday afternoon for broadcaster Herb Carneal. But don't expect it to be a retirement party. Carneal, 82, will be honored before the Twins' season finale against the Detroit Tigers in the Metrodome. It will conclude 50 years of broadcasting major league baseball games for Carneal. Indications are that Carneal, whom many Twins fans grew up listening to on radio, will remain with the team in a yet-to-be-determined broadcasting capacity. It will be his choice. For Sunday's tribute, hall of famer Rod Carew, an ex-Twin and longtime pal of Carneal's, will come to town, and broadcasting legends Ernie Harwell, Bob Uecker and Vin Scully will provide congratulations through the Dome's video board.
