Whoaaaaa, these rankings do suprise me

I agree that the M's should still win the AL West although it will be a lot closer this year...

I am shocked that they are predicting a 4th place finish for the Mets....Hell, last year with no hitting they finished with a better record than they are predicting here......Not quite sure why.....They upgraded their hiting tremendously and really only lost 1 key starter in Appier......Keys will be health but one cant predict that...If healthy the Mets will conted for the East, if not, they may be accurate...

I also see the NL West as being San Fran and Zona...Throw COlorado out of that mix...I think Zona will win it....

Very interesting...for computer projections. Remember, these are the same people that said the Rockies would win the NL West last season. There's probably a few things to wonder about, though. Running 50 seasons worth of the same guys through a computer should at least point out their strengths and weaknesses. Tippett's comments seem well thought out, and fairly detailed. The main thing that sim's fail to simulate are injuries, and they can affect a club like no other single factor.

Diamond Mind is in the business of selling their sims, and it's probably as good as any. For perfect hindsight, check out their projections for last season. (http://www.diamond-mind.com/articles/proj2001.htm)

I do, however LOVE the page 2 guys. I love when these ARROGANT MORONS look like fools with their predictions. I cancelled my subscription to ESPN Mag, after their STUPID and FACTLESS story about Boston teams and their fans.

I don't think Oakland will win their division-their pitching is great, but their power hitting has dropped like a rock since they let Jason Giambi get away. The latest news is that outfielder Jermaine Dye will not be ready to play by opening day.

guys.. these are not "predictions" made by ESPN... in fact, espn had nothing to do with them, aside from publishing the results. These are the results of a computer simulation. Intended totally and completely for fun. Yet, there is some basis on it. Basically, it assumes that averyone will perform at his expected level given his age, experience, etc.... Of course, as Bill said, it doesn't factor in ijuries, and off years... It is just meant as if it were a perfect world.

Honestly though, I could see it happening just like that. Or I could see it happening totally different. That's why the preseason is so much fun.
