Judge dismisses Comcast suit against Orioles, MASN
.c The Associated Press
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - A Montgomery County Circuit Court judge dismissed Comcast's lawsuit against the Baltimore Orioles and the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network for a second time.
Judge Durke G. Thompson dismissed the suit in July, but gave Comcast another chance to bring forward new information. Thompson dismissed the suit again Wednesday because Comcast failed to present any new information.
Major League Baseball and Orioles owner Peter Angelos created MASN after the former Montreal Expos moved to Washington and became the Nationals. The new network is supposed to televise both teams' games.
Comcast SportsNet sued the Orioles and MASN in April, contending it holds Orioles broadcast rights after the 2006 season. Comcast also has been refusing to carry MASN's broadcasts of Nationals games, except those available on over-the-air channels.
