NEW YORK (AP) - Puerto Rico will host first- and second-round games of the inaugural World Baseball Classic, Major League Baseball said on Monday.

The 16-nation, 18-day event will start on March 3 in Asia, where Group A will include Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China.
Puerto Rico will host Group C with Olympic champion Cuba, Panama and the Netherlands.
MB Sports, the same outfit that ran the Expo's games in San Juan, was named promoter of the World Classic in Puerto Rico.
``Baseball is entwined in the culture of Puerto Rico and the festive, enthusiastic crowds that Major League Baseballl has experienced in past games at Hiram Bithorn stadium will provide the perfect environment,'' MLB commissioner Bud Selig said.
