I am confused as to why Hermanson isnt being given the chance to compete for the job in center as well? I am sorry, but if we are going to sit him on the Bench, we are wasting him. In fairness to him, trade him then. He is having a great spring and deserves the job over AB and Rios at this point. Mac says he needs to see consistency. What has Chad given him this spring? Geez. Just read the article above and it appears that he is not being given the shot. I know we need a lead off hitter, but I would rather have a lousy leadoff and a good bat in there. I think leadoff guys are a bit overrated anyway. They only actually leadoff once or twice in a game.

rios is hurt so that opens up the field or it should to hermanson to finally get his fair shake.

Hermanson will never get a fair shake as long as McClenden is the Manager of this team. The kid has done everything he needed to do this spring to make the team. And McClenden says he needs more consistency from him.
What does the kid need to do
Go 30 for 30 with 30 Homeruns and 50 rbi's or more, and make all 27 outs on defense.
McClenden ran morris out of town with that he can't field crap (he was a better fielder and Better hitter then Meares is) And now he'll run Hermanson out of town because he's not consistend enough.
Enough ranting for one night

thats what stinks is mac is NOT supposed to be that way hes supposed to play the best players but he has all sorts of silly prejudices about certain players which hampers the teams ability to play the best.

The only thing I disagree with above are the Morris comments. I have stated my fondness for the guy and I truly hope he gets it together, but he played himself out of Pittsburgh. Meares, like him or not, has basically had his career ended by a hand injury. Was he ever that great? Well, not really. As for Wamo, he chased himself out of our town by poor performance. His fielding is subpar (his range is not great) and he never hit like he did as a rookie.

I think the Pirates want AB starting because of his speed and defense. Granted, Hermy has speed and he can play defense adequately. As of now, though, AB is having a horrible spring. If that continues, I think Hermy will be given a shot at center. And besides, AB can't play every day, so when he needs a rest, Hermy takes over. And then we pray Hermy keeps hitting.

Morris was given 15 at bats here and didn't do anything with those. As Greymire said, he played his way out of here. I like the guy too and wish him well in Minnesota, but he never did anything to deserve to be here.
I didn't see the Morris posts before so I replied here ...
