Well if Bell and Meares are released, a lot more tickets will be sold.
If the Pirates can compete against the Mets, that should sell some extra tickets too.
But yeah, if Opening Day isn't a sellout, the Pirates have a problem on their hands. if you can't sell out Opening Day, what game can you sell out?

If they can't sell out opening day, that is one thing, but not being able to sell out opening day in that beautiful ball park is another. That would be a real shame. But you know what? If they don't release Bell and/or Meares, they get what deserve.
Especially Bell.

That article says it all. I wish there were some way to let McClatchey and Littlefield know how the fans stand on this. Integrity is very important to us. Last year Mac did not keep his word very often, nor did Bonifay. Now I am willing to give Mac the doubt that it was Cam pulling the strings, if he starts making good to his word. Littlefield was a straight shooter with the Marlins, so he should be with us, if he has McClatcheys backing. Please Guys, do the right thing.

Integrity does mean a lot. I think DL senses that, too. He's been here long enough to know Pittsburgh is a blue collar city that wants the facts and not BS.
I see no reason DL won't be straight forward. He has been so far, and he should continue to be.

Well don't feel too terrible...
The Rockies (where I live) haven't sold out yet for opening day and they have been drawing like 3 million a year....
