Graffanino-He contributed far more than I imagined he would. Error aside

Ortiz-I expected him to put up numbers, but with a black hole in the 2 spot, he even amazed me with his clutch hit after clutch hit.

yeah, i totally agree with you on all three. Of course after Bellhorn I would have taken anyone, but damn, graffanino was great at 2nd, and put up some pretty good numbers.

Graff gets my vote. He was very solid at 2B and chipped in with more offense than we expected.

Ortiz was not a surprise to me, cuz now, I expect him to have a great year. I would say Tony was pretty dam good, but I think my Most Surprising Award has to go to Olerud. I know hes always been a great player through his years, and Ive always admired him when he was in Toronto. But dam, dude was starting lineup material at his age. He still has one of the smoothest swings.

After Ortiz 2004 season, I knew he wasn't a fluke. You know, have one good year, then flop the rest of your career, so Ortiz was no shocker.

Graffanino was good before he got here. He was hitting 300. plus before coming to Boston. Not an elite 2B, but a good offensive and defensive player. Not shocked at all he did well either.

I'm not really too sure who surprised me. Papelbon was highly thought of prospect, so it's not overly surprising he was so good and why Theo was never going to deal him when team asked for him. So, not even Papelbon was a shocker.

Most surprising player, negatively? Embree sucking as bad as he did.
