Oh, he's a young pup. This was his first full season in the big leagues, so he has at least two more years before he is eligible for arbitration. He was always a better hitter than he showed for much of this year. Wouldn't it be great if it turned out that the light bulb went on in the NLDS?

Question is where can the Astros put him? His best positions are 2nd and center. Biggio isn't going anywhere yet and Tavarez is just wonderful.

Everyone talked about the Brave rookies but the Astros sure have some "young pups" that are really fun to watch!!!

That's the $64,000 question. I can almost guarantee that Biggio will be here for 2 more years (the quest for 3,000 hits) and if Bagwell's shoulder heals he'll be at 1B next year, moving Berkman back to LF. For Chris to play regularly some will have to be traded. I have no problem trading Lane to open up a spot for Burke, especially if it's for a nice catching prospect. Burke was a #1 draft pick out of Tennessee as a SS and was moved to 2B immediately because that is where Astros brass felt his future lay. Adam Everett has shown his glaring offensive defencies this post season but I'm not sure if management feels that Burke could handle the job as an everyday SS:notme:.

You keep hearing from the TV idiots that Burke's best 2 positions are 2B and CF. Where the hell do they come up with this CF stuff? CF has never been labled as one of his natural or best positions by the organization. He's an infielder who's learning to play the OF, whether it's left, center or right. If it turns out that he can do a respectable job in CF for a year or two then I would have no problem replacing Willie T. with Chris Burke.

Astros management has some decisions to make this off season and Burke is doing everything he can to influence those decisions  .

maybe he should be the 4th outfielder with berkman having a couple of starts a week at 1b. he'd probably be able to get at least 400 AB's if you get a regular rotation in. and thats a very big "if" about bagwell. I certainly dont see him playing more than 100 games next year, so burke can get those AB's if you place berkman at 1b when bags needs a break.

The question is when they will know if Bags can play next year. That will determine who, if anyone, gets traded because if they don't need to put Berkman in LF then Burke can go there. But you have to know what you're working with.
