The victory cigar I had tonight never tasted so sweet. Thanks to everyone for their support. Lets get to Sox!
I'm glad they won. They really deserve a shot at the WS. Especially Bagwell and Biggio, two class act guys that have been Astro's front players for many years. It's just cool to see these two finally return to WS with the Astro's. Good luck to the Astro's. I think they might win this series, but it's going to be one low scoring affair. :)

yay Astros! I was pulling for you guys all the time...I really like this white-sox-Astros matchup, because I like both teams, so either way I won't be too dissapointed. Let's hope this is a great series!!

The victory cigar I had tonight never tasted so sweet. You shoulda' tasted my victory smoke :PPsmilie:
Thanks to all for the congrats and good wishes. My goodness! Effin' 44 years I've spent rooting for this team! After the absolute belly-drop from Monday night at the game, that horrible feeling like I jinxed the team by going, a totally sick feeling, it was all a relief tonight. An old college roomie who grew up around Houston called and told me that "it made it all feel worth it," and I couldn't agree more.
Special thanks to all of the Addicts who rooted for Houston just because of other Addicts they knew and not because of jerseys or who was in them. I even found myself rooting for my own team just to give Ray something to cheer for. I mean, my goodness!, a Cubs fan looking at a Cardinals-White Sox World Series?! No way!
PS - Eric, shall we wager? :wave1:

This is awesome! I'm happy and all, but part of me is happier for long-time Astros fans who have waited since day one and/or the ones who saw Bagwell in his prime. I can't imagine how they feel. This is incredible. YES!!!!!

I think my order of feeling good for goes here.......
1) Bagwell, Biggio, and Ausmus
These guys have been waiting for this and have taken their lumps from the press (and us in some cases) ;)
2) Brad Lidge
Now Game 5 is just a footnote in history instead a long part of the failure lore of the past.
3) All Colt 45 fans and longtime Astros fans
I started watching in the early 1980s. My heart goes out to those that started watching in the early 1960s.
4) The city of Houston
We have gotten the reputation as chokers and never get theres. Yes, the two NBA championships help a lot, but basketball is running a distant third right now in popularity. The World Series ranks a lot higher on the food chain.
I would like to send a special message to the Cards. All in all I'd have to say you fought hard and handled defeat with dignity. Tony LaRussa gets on my nerves and has done some classless things in the past, but by and large the team and their fans handle themselves in a classy way. I'm firmly believe we beat our most worthy opponent. Here's hoping Scott Rolen returns healthy so we can have this fun again in the NLCS next year.

Congrats to all Houston fans:thumbsup:
It is a special feeling when you have been close to the big dance before and could just taste it but failed to make it all those years...
I had been following SU sports for about 20 years when they finally won their 1st championship in basketball and the joy and emotion is absolutely overwhelming...
Either Astros or WhiteSox fans will share this same feeling in about a week or so as the Stros have never won a WS and the Sox haven't won since 1917(most people are still not around from back then)
Good luck to both teams and here's looking forward to one great series:beer:
