Congratulations to A's closer Huston Street on being named AL Rookie of the Year by The Sporting News.

The 22-year-old beat out teammates Nick Swisher,Joe Blanton, and Dan Johnson, along with Chicago's Tadahito Iguchi, and New York's Robinson Cano for the top rookie honors.

Street converted all 18 save opportunities after the All-Star break, helping the A's go from 15 games under .500 to being playoff contenders late in the season.

He was 5-1 with a 1.72 ERA with 26 saves in 67 games in 2005.

Congratulations on your honor Huston Street.

Yeah, that was kinda of a snub since he was playing all year. :ugh:

Well, congratulation to Street. I thought Cano's strong finish might have got him the reward, but I guess it didn't and Street got the award. Street did earn the reward and help fill the closer spot the A's have been looking for since Foulke departure. I don't count Dotel since he bites.

Tadahito Iguchi would have won this award if he wasn't bunting and do things for the team. If he was a veteran of Japan, I would be argue more for his sake, but his a veteran of baseball in my book and shouldn't have even been consider.

When are they going to change those rules, so veterans of the Japanese league can't come to MLB and even get a chance to win this award? :ugh:
