So many rumors. I originally thought there was a chance he would stay. Now, I'm sure he's gone. Just like Nomah and Pedro before him, the ownership is dragging his name thru the dirt. My guess is he's gone before Turkey Day. :(

Any thoughts as to where he goes? I still say he'll be a Met.

Reports are saying that he does NOT want to play for the Mets. Im guessing he doesnt want to be in the spot light anymore. Maybe going west. They did say he would like to go to Anaheim, or even back to Cleveland. I dont know how we're going to pull this off and what can we get back in return. Even if they can get someone to take him, Im pretty sure we need to pay some of his salary. Then, what are left with? Not much.

But quite honestly, I have a strong feeling that he will be right back in the 4 spot, in our lineup, next year. :)

That's exactly why I think he will go to the Mets, because of that BS story planted that he doesn't want to. Just a ploy to get the Sox to drop their asking price.

I hope to hell I'm wrong, but I see no way he stays. :(

Manny has said he wont go to the Mets. He doesnt qualify as a 10 and 5 yet though, does he? I have heard he would like to go back to Cleveland if he goes anywhere. I think that his salary may make him untradeable, unless the Sox pick up a large portion of the bill. If I am the Sox, I think I would rather just pay Manny 20 million to play for the Sox than to pay him 10 to play for the Indians plus lets say another 6 for anyone who will even come close to matching his production. (by even close, I am saying not even close at all...) I think that Manny and Ortiz make each other what they are.

Manny is a 10 and 5 guy. He also changes his mind every 5 minutes.

Youre right. Its nothing but rumors. Obviously, the most obsurd rumor was that Manny fired his agent and hired a new one so that he can try to get traded. How do you come to that conclusion? The old agent gets the commision already. The new one wont. And getting traded wont bring in anymore money. I swear, people say the most stupidest things.

0k. I wasnt sure if Manny had spent 4 years or 5 years in Boston.

Manny ain't coming back to Cleveland. Even if Boston picks up part of the salary, he's asking for too much, which the main reason he won't return. Some smaller reasons are that Shapiro hates trading prospects because you never know when someone will get hurt and he likes to be loaded so if one fails, he has two more to try out. And an underrated reason he won't return is his nature. The Tribe have a very hustling group of guys and Manny's lazy, goofy attitude could be a detriment to a young team.

I agree K. The only logical place for Manny is the Mets or Anaheim.

I'd love to see him back, Hafner would be the new Big Papi, but I really don't see him leaving Boston. As many headaches as he creates, he never has a bad season. His benefits far outweigh his drawbacks.

Sox ownership hates Manny. There is no logical reason for him to leave. They are not logical. They won their WS, now they just want to get rich.

Honestly, I haven't a clue what will happen with him. He's being traded then he isn't then he is then he isn't...he wants out, he wants to stay, he wants out...several teams are interested then nobody is then several others are...god dammit. Seriously, anything can happen and nothing will surprise me.

Oh, my prediction: Manny will get traded to a contender and the Sox will get REAMED in the trade.

How about a Sheffield for Manny trade? :laff:

I'd do it. This is Sheffield's last year right?

Yep. I think I'd like such a trade too. I don't know, I'm just not liking Sheff right now. I'd rather get someone younger then Manny though.

sheffield may be a good player, but he's an f...ing a..hole (you can fill in the dots yourself.) I wouldn't want him on my team.
