So far, he just re-read his resignation letter, and said he is doing this press conference to get the media off his back. Said he is leaving strictly for personal reasons, not Larry, etc... Said he loves baseball and hopes to be a GM elsewhere.

Telling the fans to be patient with the team, lots of young talent will be here this year and will take time to develop.

Honestly, he's kind of coming off as a jerk.

Insists he's NOT burned out. Slightly complaining about intensity of Boston. :hmm:

Says negotiations broke down over the weekend. Lots of factors involved. Says he really likes Larry. :hmm:

Says Sox should have continued success, and lots of in house talent. Never thought he;d leave Boston.

Really coming off as a scared kid. And arrogant.

I thought the Lowell Sun story said it best. It became obvious to Theo that Henry et al are just interested in making money, and Theo wants to win more World Series.

I think Henry now knows we all know this, and he will be forced to sell.

This town was skeptical when Henry bought this team. We knew his M.O. Take a franchise, increase its value and sell for a huge profit. It should be no surprise to anyone.

I honestly think Henry thought he could milk this town for a few more years, but he's realizing he can't. I think he's gonna have to sell now.

how was he going to sell for a huge profit (it is M.O. and all)? You cant really add seats, ticket prices are already the highest in the majors, you cant increase them more without a bigger backlash. and TV deals arent nearly as lucrative as they are for football. i know winning the world series increases some value, but if he tries to make a profit by reducing salary and stuff its not going to work as the value will go down as well.

whole thing seems odd.

Ray, revenues are thru the roof right now. The Boston Red Sox logo was the #2 most recognizable label in the world next to Coke last year. He'd make a giant profit if he sold today.
