In my teens I was a collector, but after about 1990, I lost interest. Mainly because cards were coming in so many variations but now I'm getting back into collecting. Not all new cards are worth a dime, but there are some like Legendary Cuts which interest me. I know Tigers #1! was a former collector. Are there anymore. I dunno, I smell another forum coming. :)

I've always been a Topps guy.I made it a point just to stick solely with the basic Topps set once the market became flooded with new products coming out semmingly every week. After all, trying to collect most sets per year will run you into some serious $$$.
I do however have the 1981 Fleer and Donruss sets to go along with most of my Topps sets.

I'm a Topps guy too. Never could stand Donruss, Fleer or Score. Yuck. I'm still trying to put together the 74 Topps set which is my birth year but I have a ways to go.

It is fun to collect.. I used to collect up till about the time you ended...
Too many different sets plus the price has made it no longer fun to collect IMO..

I think it's pretty much like playing the stock market. I remember when the McGwire rookie was $100+, now it's $40.

I used to big time into collecting sports cards up until about the mid-90's. It just became too much of a chore to try to keep up with everything. There were/are waaaaaaaay too many sets produced. Though this all may change with Fleer going under and Donruss not being given a license by MLB to produce cards. Heck even Topps ain't in that great of shape financially.
I still Collect. But It is off and on. Few packs here a few Pack there.
You know I might buy quit alot one mouth and none the next.
I have bught any in the last few mouths but you know in about a mouth the 2006 Issues will come out and I will buy atless $10 Dollars worth.

I collected as a kid and young adult but have strayed from it as I've gotten older. The price and the flooding of the market with so many brands caused me to lose interest. Like many of you, I collected only Topps. I still have all of my cards but no complete sets. I do have some good ones including Nolan Ryan rookie, '56 through '68 Mickey Mantle, '54 Whitey Ford, Roberto Clemente rookie, Frank Robinson rookie, Jim Palmer rookie, Yaz rookie, Joe Morgan rookie amongst others. My son will inherit them one day, when he is old enough to appreciate them.

Kind of my idea except I don't want kids. All the good cards I still have or an now getting are going in a box for later days.
I stopped collecting about the same time all of you did. I have about 250,000 cards, mostly baseball, but also football, some Nascar, basketball, hockey, and adult.
I collected a lot from late 60's to early 70's, then stopped for a while, until the mid 80's thru the early 90's. I have complete Topps baseball sets for 68 and 72.
