The Texas Rangers announced the following roster moves today:

-- Placed RHP JEFF ZIMMERMAN on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 22...Is eligible to be activated April 6.
--Purchased the contract of 3rd baseman HANK BLALOCK from Oklahoma of the Pacific Coast League, adding him to the major league roster.
--Informed infielder Santiago Perez and outfielders KEVIN MENCH and JASON ROMANO that they will start the season at Oklahoma, barring any injuries the rest of the spring...All 3 will travel to Texas for the Mets games.
--Assigned catcher PAT BORDERS to the minor league camp.

With the moves, Texas has 33 players remaining on the spring training roster.


TEXAS RANGERS INJURY UPDATE

DAVE BURBA: Strained his right hamstring in start on Sunday vs. Pittsburgh...Threw on the side today with no problems...Is scheduled to make final spring training start on Friday vs. New York Mets in Arlington.
CHAN HO PARK: Sustained a mild strain of his right hamstring in the third inning of today's start vs. Minnesota...Left the game and received treatment...Is day-to-day but is probable to start season opener on Monday in Oakland.
JAY POWELL: Has tendinitis in right middle finger...Threw in a minor league game today and had some discomfort...Will not throw for several days.
ISMAEL VALDES: Has irritation of the ligament in his right elbow...Felt improvement today and will throw on the side on Thursday.
