"Congratulations to the Pirates. And not just for their major league best streak of 13 consecutive losing seasons. No, I’m talking about their hiring last week of Jeff Cox as third base coach. In recent seasons, outside of seeing the nicest stadium in baseball, the only reason to attend a Pirates game was to see Rusty Kuntz striding the ground along the first base line. But when Lloyd McClendon’s tenure ended this season, Kuntz got fired, too. So, refusing to lose this type of unique fan drawing card, the bisexual geniuses in the Pirates’ marketing department obviously surmised: “Well, if we can’t have Kuntz, we’ll get Cox.”
