I guess this ends any speculation we had of getting Bradley, unless the A's are doing more shopping.

This actually makes me extremely happy. I dont care about his attitutde, etc.... i think if guys can play ball, I will take them on my team. However, Bradley is not reallyt all that great of a ballplayer. He has really done nothing to distinguish himself. Has only had one season playing more than 100 games... and has one time hit more than 10 homers. Dont we have an incumbent RF who hit 29 two years ago?

Yeah, we do. I wasn't against this deal as everybody knows, but now I'm kind of hoping that unless they can get a significant upgrade, they go with Wilson in RF. I still believe he can be the guy there.
What's always bugged me is management's committment to him.

Management had always platooned him
until 2004
then was hurt last year
i would rather go with him than some bargain basement free agent

there is a reason that people are platooned... .its because they are not good enough to play full time. The fact is, that if you look at Bradley's numbers in his one full season compared to Craig's numbers in his one full season, Craig puts Bradley to shame.

The way things stand now, they can play Wilson/Gerut in RF and Sanchez/Bautista at 3B, knowing all the while that should these players stumble they have 1) a fat wallet and 2) loads of pitching to go out and make a deal with.

GErut is a player I keep forgetting about. If he can get healthy, he may be a steal. As for Craig Wilson, I am sorry guys, I am not behind him as you are. Even before he got hurt last year his numbers were down and the year mentioned where he hit the dingers, most were in the first half and he hit horrendously the second half. Add to that, his mediocre fileding, and I see no reason to expect any thing better. When he is hot, he shows discipline and can seemingly put up super numbers. When he is cold, he swings at anything. I will agree that Bradley did not bring the power numbers to the plate. I still think that they should look at another right fielder in case Gerut or Wilson can not get it done.
Do not think I do not like Craig Wilson. I do like the guy and every year I pull for him to break out. I hope he can do it, but he has yet to put a full season together.
