Scratch that free agent off the list. ESPN says that Arizona needs to trade a corner player to thin out a log jam and lists Shawn Green (22 HR, 3 years and $33m remaining) and Troy Glaus (37 HR, 3 years and $36m remaining) as those available. Ed Eagle on the Pirates web site says that a deal for one of the Red Sox 3B (Mike Lowell, Andy Marte or Kevin Youklis) for a LH reliever is a possibility, although only Lowell seems to be an upgrade to me.

What i say to Mueller's signing is:thank you Dodgers
i would rather see Sanchez playing 3b-same type of hitter and cheaper
Lowell had a terrible year in 2005
Marte and Youkilis are prospects
do they have any HR pop?

Marte is supposed to be a 25-30 HR a year guy. I think Youks would hit 25 a year if he played FT. I will miss Mueller, but he is older and on the decline. You are lucky he went to LA.

Now that the Sox have Marte, there is talk here and elsewhere that there may be a package deal involving Youkalis coming here in exchange for some of our lefty relief pitching.

Yeah, the Dodgers did us a big favor by signing Mueller. He's a decent player and all but we have Freddy Sanchez, with Bautista getting ready. Why give a guy who is a 34 all that money and 3 years? It didn't make any sense, and I'm glad we don't have to worry about it anymore.

I don't know how many more moves we should bother with unless we can make a pretty good one. The deal with the BoSox sounds alright I guess.

Still worried about our power this season I suppose, but if Doumit and Castillo start hitting a few more (and they should) and Craig plays like he did in '04 we could be ok.

Ha ha. I too am glad we did not sign Mueller. Not that he is a bad player, I just did not view him as an upgrade.
