Most pundits had the Spurs to beat when the season started. So far, they have done nothing to change anyone's mind. They have been very consistent and efficient this season so far which is very good when you look at the fact most NBA teams are either hovering around .500 or below .500. Van Exel and Finley has been fantastic as role players and you know what their big three has done. As a basketball fan, it makes me wonder who can beat them.
The only team I can come up with is Detroit because they got the big men, defense, and the firepower to beat the Spurs. Even then, I like the Spurs better because they got a better bench. The Suns could be a fit, but they are too fragile and they don't play Defense. Spurs are always in the Suns heads. I think Dallas is a year or two away. Rockets could beat em, but their coach is overrated and that team is too soft.
I just don't see anyone beating em.

I'm pretty sure the Knicks can. :lmao:
No but really, I think the Pistons are really good this year and probably can, and if the Heat grow some chemistry maybe them too.

Eric: You gotta love the way the Spurs have built that roster. I post at a sports board for MNSports Fans and a Lakers fan talked about how he hates the Spurs because they got lucky in drafting Duncan. My response is that anyone can get lucky drafting a player. Timberwolves are proof positive of that as they got lucky with KG. It's how you build a supporting cast. What's the point of having a superstar and then you have nothing to work with? The only player that ever made a difference without a supporting cast was Michael Jordan and players like Jordan rarely ever come. Heck we may never ever see a Jordan again despite the fact that the media has this obession about finding the next Jordan though I think McGrady comes close to that. There are so many great players, but he can't do it himself. Spurs have drafted so well and produced some good young players in Scola, Udrih, Ginobilli, and Parker. Those guys have made a difference and those guys are the reason why Duncan won championship rings. The Timberwolves are the anti-Spurs. They have drafted lousy players and they have acquired lousy players which is why KG is lunikely to win a championship in Minnesota.
Cavs fans better hope Danny Ferry knows what he is doing and fields a good supporting cast or risking losing Lebron to a big-market team in a few years.

I have to agree with you TW on how any team can get lucky in the draft.
I remember when the Bulls drafted Jordan in '84,there was this big uproar that we needed a big man in the middle, and we traded that pick(Sam Bowie) to Portland.Well,we all know how that turned out.

No one ever thought Jordan would be this good for sure. Remember he got kicked out of his own H.S. basketball team and he was not even the best player at UNC. Jordan was a special athlete and a special player who always willed himself to win each night. Most athletes are hard-pressed to have that will to win each night. Bulls supporting cast was not that special, but Jordan was able to make them very good and all. It also shows you how special Jordan is considering Bulls never won championships with big men. You gotta have big men to win games as Detroit, the Lakers, and the Spurs have demonstrated in recent years. Sure Bulls got Bill Cartwright, but he wasn't anything special.
