Phillies set for patriotic Home Opener

A dazzling first ball delivery, a tribute to the United States armed forces and the Philadelphia Police and Fire Departments, and the National Anthem sung by a renowned recording artist are part of the pre-game festivities planned for the Phillies home opener on Friday, April 5.
The Phillies will host the Florida Marlins at 3:05 p.m. with the festivities beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The highlights of the pre-game festivities are as follows:
* All fans will receive a red Phillies hat, compliments of Modell's Sporting Goods,
as well as a white rally towel.
* The Philadelphia Boys and Men's Chorale will perform "America the Beautiful".
* A 100 by 300 foot American flag will be unfurled by members of the Pennsylvania Army
National Guard's 56th Brigade.
* Fifty state flags will be carried by members of the Philadelphia Police, Fire and
Emergency Medical Units.
* The National Anthem will be sung by Motive/MCA Records recording artist Jaguar Wright,
the latest Philadelphian to emerge in the R&B industry.
* An appearance from the Honor Guard based at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base
in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, and the United States Coast Guard Marine Safety Office
Group in Philadelphia.
* A flyover by the 111th Fighter Wing of the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.
* The Navy Leap Frogs will parachute into the stadium with the first ball.
* Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Harold B. Hairston and acting Philadelphia Police
Commissioner Sylvester Johnson will throw out the ceremonial first ball.
