It is a team getting heathy at some places.

I think if the Giants didn't have their defense totally decimated they would have only lost 10-0.

well, a week out is pretty much impossible to predict with much accuracy, but its looking like pretty much the same as this weekend. maybe a little cooler than today. upper 30's, lower 40's. 30% chance of precip. Dont put too much stock into that kind of forecast until thursday though. Things change too much around the Great Lakes.

The headline of the Newark Star-Ledger today was OUTFOXED! and the back page of the New York Post said OUTCOACHED! Boy the headline said it all in yesterday's game.
Giants got whopped at their crib yesterday. No ifs, ands, or buts. Giants were unprepared, overmatched, outplayed, outclassed, and outcoached. You name the negative adjective out there. This was simply pitiful performance. It was like watching the movie "Little Giants" out there yesterday. If you ask me, I think the Giants overlooked Carolina with that performance yesterday. I just did not sense that the Giants looked ready to deal with what Carolina was doing out there. Giants clearly thought Carolina was going to roll over. They thought it would be an very easy game. Had they prepared for this game, they would not have been embarassed.
This game basically ended up what I thought. Eli was going to get pressured and beaten up all day long by Carolina's front four. They made him look like Ryan Leaf yesterday. His throws was horrible and some of his passes was clearly easy to intercept. It was just day to forget for Eli. I just thought Eli hit the wall late in the season and I knew he could not turn the proverbial switch on playoff time especially against Carolina. There will be better days for Eli though. Yesterday was just not his day. You got the sense several of Eli's teammates was clearly frustrated at Eli. Kareem McKenzie did not mince words at Eli's performance and Burress was seen seething at Eli in the bench.
I knew Carolina was going to take care of Tiki. They are not bad at stopping the run and it showed yesterday. Everyone in NY thought Tiki would easily have a great day. I thought he would do good, but he was very bad. 47 yards today? C'mon. That's not what you called being a big-time player.
Why in the world you have an aging Terrell Buckley guarding Steve Smith is beyond me? Smith basically made a fool out of Buckley. I know Corey Webster has struggled and his odds were not good at stopping Smith, but he is a lot better than Buckley. I take my chances with Webster guarding Smith than Buckley. Obviously, that's Will Petersen's job, but he is out with an injury.
Steve Smith's celebrations after TDs is unorignial and pathetic.
Giants defense was an embrassment. Giants pride themselves on defense, but this was beyond bad. Delhomme did whatever he wanted out there. Giants did not tackle.
This was a very bad performance overall by the team. They did not look prepared against Carolina and I thought they took them lightly. Giants wasn't going to win, but they should have played a lot better than this.

I had a feeling that Carolina was going to be hot in this game. I think they are going to carry it over to the Bears game too, though it might not be enough to win.
It will be closer than their last game though. The best thing that can happen for the Panthers is for the weather to be ok.

eli choked...
Embarassing showing by all the Giants all around. It was clear Carolina knew what the Giants were doing. Tiki meet a wall each time he received the ball. Burress to even catch for one catch. Eli was god awful. The Giants were just out-coached by the Pathners. Is that disrespect to the Giants coaching staff? No, it's just like when you get flat out-played by the other team. The Giants were best in coaching and on the field by a large margin. In the end, they end up being the first team be shut at home in 26 years.

Eli hit the wall. I don't think he choked, Big R. He has been struggling in the last few weeks and there was no way he was going to turn the switch come playoff time considering that it's just his first full season as the Giants QB. He was basically done. He just needs to learn how to make adjustments. I knew he was not going to do well considering that he was done. It was too much to expect especially going up against Carolina's defense. Not even a bye week could have saved Eli. It happens to everyone. If you watched ESPN's NFL Live this evening, you will notice Sean Salisbury say that first-year QBs normally don't excel in the playoffs. The reason they don't excel is because they just hit the wall where teams knows their strengths and weakness. Iy does not come overnight for those QBs to adapt right away. You say Tom Brady did well. Well he did, but he is a special QB like Carson Palmer. I think Eli will get better. He sure better be for the Giants sake.
00: I think Carolina is going to have a very easy time against the Bears. It boggles my mind how Giants fans thought it was going to be an very easy game if you listen to talk radio all week here and if you read the NY papers. Phil Simms basically was peeing on his pants when he talked about the Giants and how they have so much weapons when he did a breakdown on the Giants/Panthers matchup with Eli Gelman of the Star-Ledger Sunday. Speaking of Simms, I think he is so overrated as a analyst.
Eva: John Fox is Belichick lite. Fox is a great gameplanner like Belichick. They both know strengths and weakness of other teams. Fox used to be the Giants defensive coordinator just few years ago so you know that Fox knows the Giants players like a book. It showed yesterday.
Coughlin did not have a great day, but I blame this more on the Giants players. I thought their practices were lousy. I thought their attitude was horrible all week. I got the impression that the Giants overlook Carolina all week. I just did not sense anything right with them. I thought everyone stunk from the coaches to the players.

Dont get ahead of yourself. I agree with everything you said except this. Chicago has already proven itself capable of beating Carolina and I promise that Chicago wont be taking Carolina lightly. Especially not after watching what they did to the Giants. Chicago will be well rested and have a better offensive threat this time, compared to thier first meeting (Rex Grossman).
Anyway, I never have thought that Eli was that good. He gets alot of hype just because of his name. I have watched him a couple of time and he never impressed me. After the games that I watched, I remember thinking "Huh, what an overrated QB, he is not that good". I think he can be a good quarterback, in time. He still needs more time though. Right now I think he is about a 5 on a scale of 1-10. (Consider John Elway a 10, for reference).

His 2nd year as a starter and his 1st playoff game... So he played liked crap? At least we were in the playoffs when no one at the beginning of the season gave us a shot at winning our division... Yeah we were embarrased but at least we were there... IMO this team will only get better... A bright future for the Giants...
I dont think coach C was that outcoached for some of the headlines i was seeing... Plain and simple, we lost to a better team that day!

I think the negative press Eli and the Giants are getting is absurd. It was Eli's first playoff game! Note all veteran QB's beat rookies last week. Eli will be just fine.

Yeah really. I'll guarentee that the G-Men will be back next year, possibly without a totally depleted defense when it matters. Eli will only get better.

Yeah, they should be tough next year. Eli will learn from this year and come back better for it. I dont mean to sound like I am dogging him, I just dont think he is as good as all the hype about him. He will continue to improve and become a really good QB, I think. Nothing like his brother though.

I dunno. Granted, I don't catch many Giant games, but Eli always seems so composed. He also doesn't get that Peyton Manning/Derek Lowe face when things go wrong. I've seen him make some terrific throws. I think he may be as good as his brother. People forget how much talent Peyton has around him.

Eli has lots of talent around him too - Tiki and the recieving crew and a great tight end. The Giants O-line may not be as good as the Colts, but otherwise, Eli has great players surrounding him too.
I agree with the pouty face that Peyton makes. I keep waiting for him to cry when things are not going so well for him. I have not seen that from Eli. I wonder who used to beat up on who?

Hoss: True, however though this is just Grossman's third game I think. That may not be enough against Carolina's defense who is in the top of their game. I have no idea how Grossman or Orton is going to do in their first playoff games. Another thing. There was a good chance that John Fox did not really threw the kitchen sink with all those plays with the idea that Carolina might play the Bears come playoff time which is similiar to what Belichick did against the Steelers last year in the regular season.
As for Eli, I have no idea if he is good or not. He did some good things this season. Will he adapt and learn what the defense give him? We have to find out. I can't say he is great and I can't say he is bad either. I am curious how he does next season. He has to learn how to adapt to good defenses and he needs to learn how to handle blitzes. 5 is a good number to describe Eli on a count of 1 to 10.
James: I agree about Coughlin. Did he prepare his team well? Probably not because it was clear that the Giants had no clue what was Carolina doing. That is suprising because Coughlin always have his teams prepared over the years. Did he got outcoached? I don't think so as you said. I think people talk about coaches being outcoached after a loss too much. Bottom line is this. The players did not play well and they should take accountability. If you want to blame Coughlin, blame him for not preparing his team well.

I don't like to talk about him, but Plexico Burress...no catches. When he is a reciever you are counting on, you're in trouble. It seems like that is esepcially true in the playoffs, where he would routinely dissappear for Pittsburgh when here.
Jacqui, I was thinking the same thing about the QB's...every young QB lost. It just seems to be the way it is. Look at Roethlisberger, who came unhinged in two playoff games last year. He would have been one and done like this year's crop if the Jets hadn't missed those two field goals.
Manning will be ok. Even more than they need to get rid of Burress, they just need to be patient.

I have a co-worker, big Giants fan who was so excited when they got Plexiglass. I told him the guy disappears in the playoffs. He wants him gone now. :D
