Astros and Miller finalize $1.3 million, one-year deal

HOUSTON (AP) - Trever Miller and the Houston Astros finalized a $1.3 million, one-year contract Monday after the relief pitcher passed a physical.
The 32-year-old left-hander went 2-2 with a 4.06 ERA in 61 appearances for Tampa Bay last year and did not allow a run in his final eight games.
Miller pitched for the Astros from 1998-99, going 5-2 with a 4.02 ERA in 84 games. He is 10-11 in seven seasons. In addition to Tampa Bay and Houston, Miller has also pitched for Detroit (1996), Philadelphia (2000), the Los Angeles Dodgers (2000) and Toronto (2003).
His contract include an option for 2007 that could become guaranteed based on his performance this season.
Houston also agreed to minor league contracts with left-hander Carlos Hernandez and catcher Alan Zinter, and invited the pair to spring training. Minor league right-hander Jared Gothreaux also was invited to spring training.
