View Full Version : Glen Taylor is as much as a problem as Kevin McHale

You know it's easy to blame Kevin McHale for the problems that ail the Timberwolves. He should have been fired for years. Unfortunately, the owner is in love with him never mind how many blunders he has caused. So if Kevin is not going to get fired anytime soon, the criticism should lie on Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor. Glen can fire him anytime he wants and he should, but he is not interested to. He wants to give Kevin McHale a chance to turn this team around. I have no idea what confidence does Glen have in Kevin? Kevin has made some good moves and his offseason in 2003 was his finest moment, but outside of that, what has he done. His draft has been a disaster sans drafting KG and Marbury. His free agent pickups was unspectacular. I mean in the real world, you make bad decisions like that as a GM or CEO, you are fired. Why should McHale be any different? I just think it's time for something new. We need a GM who will have a smart vision of how to run a franchise and we need a GM who will be creative in coming up with trades. We need a GM who has intelligence and a passion to make things right. I just don't see any of that with McHale and you can sense why KG has really been on McHale's case.

I hope Glen Taylor realizes that there is something wrong with the management team. The fact KG is speaking out and the fact the Wolves draw as well as the Twins do should wake Taylor up. There is no way Glen has to keep McHale this year. I get the feeling though he wants to give McHale a chance to revive the franchise, but this franchise is better served to have someone new. It's just time just like it was time for Flip to go. The only way I think Taylor will really get it if he gets criticism by the Twin Cities media. For some reason, he has never gotten any criticism from anyone. For God's sake, Zygi Wilf gets more criticism than Glen does. Zygi at least is trying to do things right. What about Glen? He seems content to let McHale run this team and that bothers me. Glen has to take lot of hits too IMO since he is letting this continue while this franchise is self-destructing itself.

I wouldn't be sad if Glen sold the team to Zygi or Reggie Fowler or anyone. I like an owner who will not tolerate losing and he will do everything to win. If anythng, I encourage Glen to sell the team. Glen can spend money, but his problem is that he is way too loyal to guys that are just incompetent. I know Glen is big on loyalty, but loyalty in banks is different than loyalty in sports. Sports is a big, big business. Sports is a different animal. Glen just can't keep supporting McHale like this.

Glen should take some hits too besides McHale IMO.

Are you for or against shopping KG?

I am against shopping KG.

With that said, I have come to the conclusion that KG will likely be traded on his own volition. With the team going nowhere, the team probably thinks they are better off gettign younger players for KG. It may seem sense, but the problem is most teams may not feel like they have to give up anything for KG considering that he may be out the door a la the Artest situation in Indiana.

I definitely want Kevin McHale gone as a GM and I think it maybe best if Glen Taylor sold the team.

I did some thinking this evening.

I would like to see Norm Green own the Timberwolves. I know it's blasphemy and I know Norm is not well-liked for moving the North Stars to Texas, but I don't blame Norm for that. I blame the state for not funding an hockey arena for the North Stars (gee how familiar is that because this same state is not funding a baseball stadium or a football stadium and you wonder why Norm moved the North Stars). One thing about Norm. He will make changes and make people accountable. He wouldn't tolerate this garbage that is plaguing the Wolves.

So this owner is who seem to be against now?

Taylor is not trading KG. There is no way he would because he would lose money. Fans would stop going to games for good. Bad enough the Target Center does not even draw much fans anymore, but it will be so Continental Airline Arena-like attendance if KG is gone for good.

KG could go on his own volition. One way or another, it could get ugly after this season.

I see KG being to good to this team I cant see him leaving... But he hates loosing so much so I dont know how much he can handle it... How do you go from western conference finals to no playoffs! ITS OK MY LAKERS DID IT TOO!

But it must kill him

It is killing KG. He has been miserable since the season ended last year and he was furious this summer when Sam Cassell was traded to the Clippers for basically nothing as Marko has been a bust. Kevin is a prideful man. This guy works his butt off everyday. He never takes plays off. He wants to win badly. It kills him to lose and I wouldn't want it anyway. He is not taking it well and I am glad he is not. I know I hate it when the Timberwolves are losing. It kills me. I get very angry when the Wolves lose and when they win, I am very happy. I have been very moody and cranky lately with the Wolves losing. It hasn't been fun.

This team has been bad since the Western Conference Finals. Guys got old in a hurry and guys got exposed for who they are.
