What do you think the best conference in college basketball is this season?

Big 11.
Illinois, MSU and Indiana can play with anyone, and they're even talking about the Big 11 to be the first conference to send 8 teams to the tourney this year.

A homer vote.
Big 10/11.
There are lot of teams that has a golden shot of going to the tournament. Too bad Minnesota will not be one of them.

Coincedentally, all three votes are by Big 10 people. I wonder what other conference fans' think on this.

I 'll tell ya what I think;)
I think the Big East is the best conference out there...
No conference has more teams at the moment in the top 25...
With the addition of the new teams I really think the BE is the toughest conference in America...

Gotta agree with you on that one James.
That Big East is a 16-team gauntlet from January through early March.

I guess having 15 teams over .500 isn't considered a terrible conference. Big East is second in my book.

Big 10, with the Big East being a very close 2nd. The ACC is down this year, and I love it!

James: I would have went with the Big East myself. However, did you thought Indiana, Northwestern, and several other teams were going to be this good. I didn't which is why i went with the Big 10.
You mention the teams that are ranked in the Big East. I tell ya what. I think Rutgers is getting up there. Had they beaten Villanova last night, they could have been ranked.

No I didnt htink those teams would be that good but I also didnt think Cincy with all the turmoil or Pitt were going to be that good either and Pitt is one of the 3 undefeated teams.....
As far as the ACC goes, they may be down, but they have the best team in the nation in it....

As did the Big 10 last year, and it still got no respect. Lots of people (even some on this board) even went so far as to say that Illinois was overrated because it played in a weaker conference. :nono1:

The best team in the nation last year came from the ACC-North Carolina, who I boldly predicted in December, would winit all.. This year in our pool I had the 1st pick so I naturally picked Duke in a no brainer... :D

At this point last year, Illinois was ranked #1, and for good reason. UNC was not ranked #1 until the final poll of the year. Duke may not win it all this year, the season is young yet.

I think Cincy and Pitt will get back to Earth soon. I think Rutgers will eventually overtake them.
hoss: It took me awhile to be really sold on Illinois last year. I really couldn't make a decision on them just yet. Even when they beat my Knights in the opening round of the tournament, I wasn't sold just yet. I started becoming sold after the extra overtime win against Arizona . I was so impressed that I started to think that they would beat UNC.

I think if they played a best 2 of 3 series that Illinois would have won. I am still a little bitter at how the game was officiated. They let the UNC big guys get away with whatever they wanted (throwing shoulders, playing for the ball) and did not let James Augustine even lay a passive hand on anyone. He got into early foul trouble and I think that made a difference. Oh well...

I disagree with that... Not so much that they will come back to Earth (although Pitt has nowhere to go but down since they are undfeated) but I definitely dont think that Rutgers will be better than either of those teams... I think you are overrating Rutgers based on them playing a good game vs Nova....
I dont think that Rutgers will even finish in the top 10 in the BE...

I would still have taken UNC to win 2 of 3.. I honestly thought they were the best team in the nation last year.....

Dickie V last night said the BE and Big 10 were pretty much neck in neck as far as the best conference in America but in the end, he gave the slight nod to the BE... But it looks like it could go either way which I agree.... Both conferences are great and either being #1 or #2 wouldnt be wrong....

With the Big East, they'll have 7 teams going in this March.About 3 more right now,Louisville,Cincinnati, and Syracuse are IMO,bubble teams, solely on conference records.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks out there.

Cuse needs to win at least 19 IMO, to get in plus at least 1 or 2 games in the BE tourney... I think 20 and at least a .500 record in the BE should get them in... Their last 2 are vs WV and G-Town so they better step it up starting today vs St. Johns and then play Cincy and Louisville I think at home.... They really need to win these next 3....
The have played horrible in the last month so its important they finish strong...

Pencil Seton Hall in the tournament. They are in after a great win last night against a very good team in West Virginia. Even if the Hall don't win the rest of the way and look bad in the Big East Tournament, they should be in the tournament. Their wins against good teams speak for itself not to mention they beat a very good team in West Virginia, who could go to the Final Four this year.
The Hall can not be complacent now. They can't be content. They can do better. They are playing well, but I think this team can do a lot better and the players know that. Louis Orr, Kelly Whitney, Donald Copeland, and Jermaine Butter will see to it that the Hall won't be complacent. This team can do something special. No, they are not going to the Final Four, but Sweet 16 or Big 8 is not out of the question.
Hats off to Louis and his players tonight. Louis had them ready from the start. They played a lot better against a very good team. Their defense was better and their execution was better. Hall showed no fear of West Virginia and they did not let West Virginia bullt them around which was not the case against UConn.
It was great to see fans cheer Louis Orr's name too. He has gone through a lot this summer with him being rumored to be fired and all. I was a very happy a class act like him got cheered.
Man New Jersey colleges will be well-represented in the tournament this year with the way it looks. FDU is looking fantastic in the NEC and with home-court advantage throughout the NEC Tournament, they should be the favorite to win the tournament and clinch their way to the playoffs.
