I think the Bears defense forgot the most important part of the game plan.

That is to stop Steve Smith!!!!:gripe:

This is why we are going to be 1 and done.

I cant believe the way that game played out. That looked like Pass Interference on that last offensive play by the Bears. Oh well, wouldnt have mattered.

The defense did OK, except for falling down every time that Smith was going deep. I wonder if the Bears will win another playoff game in my lifetime :eviltongu

you know, none of the teams that had a bye looked all that great. Denver looked the best, but some of that was because of new england turning the ball over so much. But Indy looked really bad for most of the game. And Seattle certainly didnt look all that great yesterday either.

look for carolina to go to the super bowl.

Grats on starting Rexman Bears. Forget about the rookie QB that got you there.

I wanted this to happen just because of that anyways.

I was at the game yesterday. I'll tell you that Smith was open even on the plays that they didn't throw to him. Guess Ron Rivera should have spent less time on head coaching interviews and more time on a solid defensive scheme to stop Smith. He was the only guy that could beat us and everybody knew it. Yet it still happened.

Carolina kept catching the Bears with mismatches all afternoon. The Panthers would come out with 3 WRs and the Bears would be in their normal 4-3 and have a Safety or LB on the third WR. Now, I can see that on a short field like on your own 20 yard line or less where you don't have to worry about long passes. But there were a few cases where this happened with a longer field which would enable a speedy WR to blow past the slower guys covering them. The Bears did have safeties Mike Brown and Chris Harris go down with injuries and our fastest CB, Jerry Azumah, also has been hurting and was not effective.

So at one point late the Bears had our third string CB, Chris Thompson, in the game covering Smith. The same guy that gave up all of those big plays to Brad Johnson and the Vikings. He was in two plays. The second of which was the last bomb to Smith for his second TD. I was sitting all the way on the other side of the field from that play. Before it happened, I looked and saw the match up, watched Delhomme see it too and as soon as the play started I said "Aw s&*t!!". Sure enough, they burned him.

at this point, Rex Grossman is the more talented QB and knows the playbook better than Orton. Not that Orton didn't do an OK job for us, because he did. And he may one day be our starter. But from watching every quarter of every game this year I'll tell you that Grossman is better right now than Orton. The defense and running game won us most of our games. The main thing Orton did was not lose them. Even if he would have been starting against Carolina, we still would have lost the way our defense played.

if orton was playing the bears would have lost at least 29-10, if that. He cant make the throws that Rex was making at the end of the first half and start of the second half.

People must have been falling down and cars crashing all around him. There could not have been any other cars for at least a mile around him.

Kidding, right?

How they weren't that great? I thought their defense did a good job for the most part. Hasselbeck was simply spectacular. What about the Seahawks that didn't impress you, Ray?

everything about them. dont forget, minus one dropped pass (that should have been easily caught for a TD) and a missed field goal, its a tie game.

hasselback wasnt spectacular. was he solid? yep. but thats about it. their defense didnt do a good job. washington's offense is inept. very inept.

OK I know this sounds crazy but it happened again. I was at Dunkin Donuts waiting in line this morning. All of the sudden out of nowhere, Steve Smith speeds by me, grabs a box of Munchkins with one hand, grabs another bomb from Delhomme with the other, and splits out the door. Damn, nobody or nothing can stop that dude.

During World War 2, the British hired Steve Smith to catch the bombs that Germany was dropping on London. His efforts helped turn the tide, which led to an Allied victory.

TAXI!....I'll get my coat.:sigh:

Ray: I think you gotta give Brunell credit for making plays too along with Santana Moss. I thought Seattle did fine. They are not going to be perfect. The bottom line is Seattle did played well to win the game.

they played well enough to win the game, but they better hope alexander is healthy for the game.

I agree. With that said, I think Hasselbeck may be good enough to win this game himself.

I was sitting at the corner of Ridge and Calumet here in beautiful Munster,In. this afternoon waiting for my 3 minute stop light to turn green.

As i wqas waiting, the bright light on top goes on and I thought that an emergency vehicle was comeing through. As the intersection cleared,Steve Smith comes racing through the intersection untouched with ball in hand.

Man, this game broke my heart. Ray, I was sooooo thinking of you! I was at a family party watching this game. The bartender was a Bears fan. The 2 of us cheered our hearts out.

Great year for the Bears though!

I just saw something on TV that showed if Steve Smith gets at least 101 yards against the seahawks, he is going to beat a Jerry Rice record. That record is combined regular and post season recieving yards.

That is pretty impressive.

No kidding???

What is even more impressive is that he is the man that the other teams HAVE to stop and they know it but still cant do it.

All I know is that when a team wins in the divisional round of the playoffs they are doing something right. It isn't like they are beating the bottom feeders, they are playing and beating the other elite teams in the league. The 4 teams left are all legitimate because the playoffs make you legitimate. Remember, the NFL doesn't use the BCS, so teams actually have to beat the other teams to win the superbowl. It is skewed because it isn't necessarily the best team that always wins, but the team that plays the best. It is great because making plays and beating the other team is what it's all about. These are the teams playing the best right now (obviously).

I just saw this in the Chicago Sun-Times today.

In 6 career playoff games,Steve Smith has 40 catches for 706 yards and 6 TDs.

You remember about a year ago when they said wide-recievers are just about the most unimportant position on a team?

And then they also said that having a RB over the age of 26 was stupid.(Curtis Martin)

Man........I blame idiot america.
