Do you think they would have admitted that - if the Colts would have won? Hmmm....
(In case you have been in a cave - this is in reference to the Polamalu interception that was given back to the Colts on an overturned replay call.)

Good point. At first, I would think that there was no way in hell they would have announced this had the Colts won.
However, wasn't there a playoff game recently where they admitted they made a mistake, and the right call would have resulted in another field goal try for the losing team at the end of the game?
I guess we'll never know...

How about the safety they didn't give? They should admit to that one as well.
I guess this all falls under "the Manning rule"...

It wasn't a safety. He was hit infront of the goalline.

Looked like the ball was in the endzone when he was hit to me, but that is only an opinion since there wasn't really a great angle on the replay.

all these admissions are well and good, but it doesnt really mean much. H ad the colts won the game, i twouldnt have made a difference. Its not like they were going to go back and replay the end of the game. Back in 2000 the Steelers got 3 official apologies from the league. What did it mean?? Nothing. We still missed the playoffs.

Let me rephrase that. He, holding the ball next to his body, was infront of the goalline before being knocked into the endzone. It is where contact is first made. Every replay confirmed it.

I feel you man, I feel you.
imgreat is right. This apology don't mean much at all. Doesn't change the fact of what happen in the game and if the Colts did win, the Colts still advance and the Steelers are left with an apology that really holds no value. Not sure if the NFL would have admitted the mistake if the Colts won or not, but we know we would be getting a lot more lashing out from people in Pittsburgh and around the NFL community lashing out other than just having Porter lash out.

My question has nothing to do with whether or not it makes it right in the eyes of fans, but rather how chicken-spit the NFL seems to be.
An apology is irrelevant as well.
The whole idea is behind the question is: Would the NFL had admitted the mistake if the Colts would have gone on to win? An admission then would have resulted in much bad publicity and lots of egg on the face of the NFL and I dont think they would have admitted the error (to save the embarrassment and being drug over the coals).
Would there have been conspiracy whispers if the Colts would have gone on to win?

they have admitted mistakes before. remember the giants/niners playoff game a coupla years ago? they were supposed to call pass interference on a botched field goal attempt and given them another shot at kicking the GW field goal (final score was 39-38)

Hopefully that ref isn't doing any more games this year...The league needs to define what exactly a "football move" is.
