TO ALBERTA!!!!!

My dad seems to think that he's getting laid off soon so he sent out a bunch of resumes to places in Alberta. Apparently there is such a shortage of welders there that they are offering 26-52 dollars an hour depending on experience! Even if he doesn't get laid off, for that kind of money he's going to take whatever he gets!

Soooo, looks like Nick and I need to be finding a place soon, or else I have no where to live :ugh:

Yeah we found one we liked and then we found 50,000 worth of unexpected repairs to go along with it...

If your parents move, won't they just give you and Nick the house?

I don't want it. I hate this house. It's out in the middle of nowhere on the busiest f'n street imaginable. The house shakes so much from all the traffic going by it's rediculous. I want to be back in the city, I hate the county

Why wouldn't it be legal to give them the house?

Why can't you keep the house long enough for you to find yourselves a home, then sell it? Ya know, a home is a home...betta than rushing into something crap cause you gonna be on the streets soon lol

it's not illegal to give away something you own thats rediculous. fact of the matter though is that I wouldn't take it even if it was given to me. Call me ungrateful, but I seriously don't want it

If the laws in Canada are anything like they are here in Pennsylvania, then to an extent, yes... it is. For example, if you have a car and y ou want to give it away to someone, you actually still have to turn it in as a price of $200 so that you still have to pay taxes on that $200. The government frowns upon the giving away of valuable items because it means that they dont get their money.

In the US, there are fees associated with a real estate transaction for both parties involved. But one can do a "quit claim" deed where title is just transferred. You do not have to show it as a sale with a purchase price.

But that's here in the USA.

Jen, hopefully your parents won't move until you and Nick find a place. If they have to, maybe they can delay selling the house. Or if they've already gone to contract and they have to move, they can assign Power of Attorney to you specifically for the sale.

See, lots of options!!
