Going to try and set this up the right way this year...
This is pretty simple actually so I'm not sure how things got so confusing last year..
So here is the simple info:
1. Pick a team to manage
2. Keep your team updated with daily roster moves, adds, drops, etc.
3. If a real life trade is made with another team, then you need to make the trade immediately with that other team in the league.
4. Please do not sign up if you do not intend to keep up with your team during the season. I need full cooperation and participation for this league to work.
5. Use this thread to sign up for you team and ask any questions.
Thanks,
Guru

Jaymez--we are going to need to change the "Outfield" spots to utlity spots. Otherwise, the AL teams cant draft someone who is only a DH...They will only be able to play 8 guys... but they should be able to have that guy on their team....

Is this how it was done last year?
imgreat95
02-16-2006, 01:40 PM
yeah it was. Because, for instance, Travis Hafner is a DH... and is only available as a DH... without having the outfielders set us as utility spots, then he isnt even available in the league. In order to play him, whoever has the Indians will have to sacrifice one of their outfielders, but they have to be able to at least have the option of drafting him.

Also, please make sure you pre-set your draft to get all of your players....

I'm in as the Padres.
Just to make sure i'm following correctly, we can only draft our teams players, and only have those players that are on the team at that time, for the rest of the season.

What teams are left?
And just so I understand it, if I had the Reds and Dunn got traded, I still keep Dunn?
Mr. Met on Pot
03-10-2006, 08:07 PM
It's extremely easy to understand, you get the players that are on your respective team. If Dunn is traded, you don't get Dunn.

Exactly... If Dunn gets traded to say the Yanks, you would have to trade him to the Yanks....
This is just kinda to see how fantasy real rosters would do compared to the real records...
Not as much strategy in this league...

and only have those players that are on the team at that time, for the rest of the season.
So is there any method to the madness for having 8 offensive players and 12 pitchers active? Some of these teams bat 9 and only carry 11 pitchers during the season. Since I didn't play last year, was there some discussion why not to set a 'normal' lineup (C-1B-2B-3B-SS-OF-OF-OF-UTL)? Seems to me there are far more games that a 9th hitter is used as opposed to games a 12th pitcher is used :notme:

Ok, you start out with the players that your team has at opening day, if they make a trade, you make a trade. Do EXACTLY LIKE THEY DO...
IDK about the pitchers and hitters thing

IDK about the pitchers and hitters thingMe either. I've got to think there's some reason why they're using the CI, MI, UTL stuff :notme:

Nah, I just kept the same way it was last season....
No good reason... I can switch it at anytime:)
imgreat95
03-11-2006, 09:23 PM
No.. there IS a good reason.. dont change it.
WHy?? Because if you are an AL team, you have 9 hitters.... not 8. That is an unfair advantage. The "Util" allows it so that a guy like Travis Hafner is available. If you listed it tradionally, then Hafner would not even be available, and an AL t eam would have an extra hitter to choose from to fill his lineup. By doing it this way you get to pick any 8 hitters.
We ran into this problem last season. DOnt you remember, Jaymez?

03-11-2006, 10:43 PM
Ah yes, good point... I couldnt remember...

03-12-2006, 12:36 PM
No.. there IS a good reason.. dont change it. I understand why you set it up based on that. But the one problem I have with it is by including Field Pct in the scoring and, in essence, allowing the AL teams to include someone (i.e., Hafner) in their 8-hitter mix who will NOT be in the field while the NL lineups have 8 legitimate fielders. I would much rather bet on picking the right 9th batter (pinch hitter) in an NL lineup and force the AL teams to even up with 8 legitimate fielders than letting the AL teams get off with a no-error, weenie DH in their lineup. You could accomplish this by adding a 4th UTL to the mix.
There are also going to be times that clubs carry just 11 pitchers. Yet with 12 pitchers in the set lineup, that means some teams will be carrying a dead arm instead of the extra live bat.

Guys, please have all your "team" players pre-ranked by this next Saturday (March 25th)
On Saturday afternoon I will run the draft.. That way if there are any problems it gives us about a week to get all the right players on the right teams...
Thanks,

I set the draft to ready and it drafted late last night..
Every team (besides the Twins) did a good job of pre-ranking their players..
I edited all the rosters by dropping all of players not from your team...
Do me a favor and go in and pick up any player that is supposed to be on your team... We have 5 days or so to get all this together..
Thanks everyone for your help!
