Shawn, you may call me "grandma!" No no, not in a real life.
My hubby and I went to the eye dr. for our eye exams. He said I needed a BIFOCAL glasses!!!!! After trying on a pair of bifocal contact lens, I couldn't deal with my right eye because it kept getting blurry on and off. I found out that I may have a retina problem, possibly disease which dr. promptly referred me to the eye specialist. So I have to ditch the contact lens for the first time and will have the new lens inserted in this same frame in a few days. I'm naturally devastated about retina thingy and BIFOCAL glasses! :barf: My hubby will get a complete new pair of bifocal glasses as usual. He has had it for several years anyway. BUT ME IN BIFOCAL GLASSES?????? :nope: :scream:
Ok, ok, ok, I'm an old fart! :ohno:

well after they fix whatever the retina problem is, you should be able to wear them once again.

Yeah, that's my plan after I'd get used to the new glasses. IF the eye specialist gives me an ok to wear those contacts. :ohno:

Misha, instead of you and hubby getting bifocals, you can always go the other route and just get two pair of glasses made. My mother when she was alive couldn't get used to bifocals and had the eye dr. make her another pair of glasses

Have you guys read about the lasik surgery? If so could you do it? I know some people can not get it done because of certain eye conditions. I am so greatful for my good eye sight. My dad was a sharp shooter in the military, so I have inherited his vision. I am 20/15 and I can read down to 20/10, but not very well at a far distance. I hope to keep this for a long time. Sorry to hear about the retina disease, but the Docs today have a lot of great techiques to fix our problems. Good luck.

I would absolutely love to have the laser surgery if i could afford it. Insurance companiies will not yet cover it because it is still considered to be an "experimental" procedure. The cheapest I have found it yet is about $900 an eye. Considering that I spend that in about 5 years on exams, contacts, and glasses (although I have not had a pair of glasses since i left mine in the marriot in Baltimore 3 years ago) I think it would pay for itself pretty easily. I would give ANYTHING to be able to wake up in the morning, open my eyes, and SEE!!! My vision is about 20/525 in both eyes without my contacts.

The checks in the mail!!!!!!!
That surgery looks scary, but I would have to say that my sight is worth the cash. I am starting to see it creep down soem from that $900. They are even doing specials if you attend the seminars, they are cutting out like $150 or something. My wife has pretty bad vision in one eye, but will not do the surgery for the life of her, but she can stick her finger in her eye with that contact every day???? I can't even stand putting eye drops near my eyes.

I have been wearing contacts for so many years now ( I started when I was 8 or 9) that I have no problem with poutting them in. My problem is, that unlike most people, I can't sleep with mine in. It sucks..
TX-- do you want my address for that check?
