View Full Version : Vick "I'm a little lost right now"

Falcons coach Michael Vick ripped the team's west coast offense: "I thought the West Coast offense was supposed to be a lot of quick, dink-and-dunk passes and it's not being run that way. I'm not saying it's because of coach Knapp, but he's calling the plays. My perception of the West Coast thing is starting to change too. We're not doing what I see Seattle doing or San Francisco doing or Green Bay doing. We're not doing those things. I don't know if it's Knapp changing those things around but as far as I know, it's not the West Coast system as far as the way we run it. "We're not dinking and dunking the way it's supposed to be done. It may be hurting me. It may be hurting the offense. I'm a little lost right now."
It has more to do with new coachs every year. Having to learn a new offense every year and not getting to know one kind of offense.

I wish he'd stop acting like a pussy and just say: Fire Knapp.
Because that's what he's trying to say.
If I was Knapp I'd retaliate something like this: Well I can't run a good west-coast offense with A POS QUARTERBACK!
I hate Vick. Sorry.

In fact this is what I don't get. That quote right there is good enough to fine him for giving out information detrimental to the team imo. Isn't it obvious that TO is a scapegoat if Vick gets away with this?

I think this is about 50% Knapp and 50% Vick. Mike doesn't seem that coachable right now, but Knapp doesn't seem flexible enough. I keep thinking that Mora should be able to refine Mike's technique like the Niners did with Steve Young, but it just doesn't seem to be happening.

I saw that tonight on PTI. I thought it was kinda funny.

Well i'm kindof oldschool. I think if the quarterback plays crappy it's because he sucks. People make too many excuses for Vick.

*sigh* where to begin about Michael Vick....
the boy (can i call him that if i'm not older than he is...anyway...) can move...i admire his ability to run, really, i do. there are many quarterbacks who would benefit from learning to move their feet a little more when the situation calls for it. but, michael runs entirely too much. quarterbacks are supposed to make the read on the defense and pass or hand off....not take it upon themself to try and move the ball forward. i think it shows a lot of mistrust in his teammates, that he thinks only *he* can be trusted to move the ball downfield.
this being said, i truly believe he's gotten much, much better in the last few years. he's learning to relax much more and i'm a big fan of the Mora family, and i think Jim fits well with Michael...
and the point of this thread...oh right, i remember: badmouthing your team, coach, or whoever is wrong --- i don't care how screwed up you think the team/coach/other player is....keep your damn mouth shut...period. you work for them...their job is not to make you happy all the time...so shhhhh, and play some damn football (well, in a few months anyway).

Well I mean they can mouth off to each other all they want. But once you start telling reporters things and trying to be sneaky about it, that's just wrong.
In my book this isn't any worst then what T.O. has done. I don't like none of it at all, but once T.O. started getting railroaded all the time about 4 or 5 years ago I was like: 'What the hell? This is the way players have been behaving for the past 15 years or so, and all of a sudden everybody likes to act shocked about 1 single player?'

Vick is expressing frustration right now. It hasn't been a great season for him and he is going through lot of criticism. I thought he did a okay job. He will bounce back. He is a great QB. I don't have a problem with his game.

The big question is: what has Vick done that gives him the right to criticize?
how many NFL championships has he won?
how many passing titles has he won?
has he made his teammates better?
to feel frustrated is ok
to talk to his coach ,owner ,teammates about it is ok
when you start using the press, then you make it all about yourself
T. O. is just a self-centered ass
he has not helped his team win a superbowl either

Except there's plenty of self-centered asses in the NFL, and I wouldn't put T.O. at the top of the list.

i cant stand vick. and to call the west coast offense a dink and dunk offense is sheer lunacy. Its a timing offense.
The bears offense is a dink and dunk offense. the west coast is definitely not dink and dunk.

I saw Mike Vick in college. He was electric. Once in the pros, he relies to heavily on his legs. Enough with the stuff we already know.
One of the main reasons Vick left for the NFL early was that he was not that great in the classroom. Yes, millions of dollars is a great reason to turn pro. Mike was not that smart in college. He had a very low GPA. Also, in his first pro season, Dan Reeves made his playbook simpler to help Vick. He knew who he was inheriting.
The reason Vick is lost is that his brother is in all kinds of trouble, he is having trouble adjusting to defenses, he has to answer critics about whether he can be a passing QB, etc etc.
I feel sorry for the man, but with all the hype and talent, he lacks what others have.

I was watching his probowl QB challenge thingie where they try to hit bullseye targets. He seriously missed 5 out of 6 targets completely.

Falcons QB Mike Vick claims he stayed in the pocket so much last year because he was hurt.
