Wasn't that the funniest thing when A-Rod told Cal to play short and Joe told him to also? Sportscenter said this morning that A-Rod called Joe last Thursday and asked if he could do it and Joe said Yes! They were the only ones who knew about it.

I thought the All-Star Game was really good this year (even though the AL won;) :ohno: - again) Cal is one of my favorite players, and one of the reasons I love the O's.

It made me cry, the tributes to him, and the love from the fans in Seattle (what a nice crowd), and when he stepped up to bat and hit a homerun on the first pitch... I was staring at the screen just saying "No way!!!"

I loved A-Rod pushing him over to shortstop, and Joe Torre just standing there, waving him over. Cal looked flabbergasted, but I heard him say afterwards it was great seeing homeplate from that perspective again.

A most-deserving MVP!!! YAAAAAAAY!!

I also thought the game was cool because we got to see the players just having fun, being human, showing sides we haven't seen before... like Chipper Jones applauding Cal as he went around the bases, all the guys with admiring looks in their eyes as Cal and Tony Gwynne say good-bye. It was very cool.
